About this project
Today, the fruits and vegetables we consume come covered with pesticides or worse yet, are prewashed with gas or chemicals to live longer on the supermarket shelves. To minimize and eliminate the chemical residues it required not only a quick wash, but subemerging the produce in water for a longer period of time. I always admired the sustainability, the elegance and the simplicity of the funnel and the strainer. The intelligence and the function are in their form. I wondered how I could update these tools in a smart and aesthetically pleasing way. The result came as a beautiful bowl whose handle is also a hybrid strainer and funnel, that seems destined for a Museum of Modern Art gift shop.
Perfect gift for Mother's Day
- The Anton Strainer is a modern bowl that fits today’s life.
- It is sustainable, elegant and it serves us in a simple, basic way.
- It is what I call "FUNCTIONAL ART"
- The strainer has a touch latch attachment.
- Easy to be removed and washed when needed.
- Once the strainer is in place, it is stable and perfectly integrated.
- After you add the water the produce is totally submerged in the water.
- In this way we reduce 60% of the water needed to wash as opposed to a traditional strainer.
- Place the bowl on the counter.
- Swirl around with fingers to rub the pesticides off the produce.
- The handle is used as a strainer and drains at the same time.
- The funnel allows you to control where you want to drain the water, in a sink, a cup or in a plant.
- It is a beautifully designed object that you can pass on from generation to generation.

Risks and challenges
Made in America, this is one of the most challenging aspects of the project, because we want to bring back the know-how to our cities and our industry instead of going to Asia. We are prepared to make sure each step of the way is thoroughly completed without cutting corners to give you the best possible product. We have looked into different manufacturers and we chose Signet Plastics a great company, also a backup manufacturer in Tennessee, and built in a time cushion for the products to be made to proper quality specifications. This will allow us to under-promise and over-deliver!!
Working with a manufacturer located in Knoxville,Tennessee, who makes products for some of the top brands in North America, will minimize the risk because we will be working with the same standards in North America (FDA) instead of running into problems lost in translation with overseas manufacturers.
I sincerely believe that we can provide you with your Strainer Bowl rewards in a very timely manner consistent with the dates laid out in each pledge description.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
