Respect Films is producing a short-film of Invader? I Hardly Know Her, a new musical by writer/composer Jason Powell. The show is a sci-fi comedy that first premiered in September of 2009 at the Alchemist Theatre in Bay View, Wisconsin. The show had its New York City debut the following year -- directed by Rebecca Hengstenberg and choreographed by Jessica Henderson -- as part of the 2010 NYC Fringe Festival.
The Fringe Festival production was received warmly by New York audiences and critics. Time Out New York gave the show four out of five stars, and Curtain Up called the show "funny, intricate and enjoyable, with its spot-on timing and snappy turns of phrase." Broadway Abridged praised Invader's "brilliant lyrics."
Respect Films is the production company behind Grant Morrison: Talking With Gods, the documentary that Wired called "An instant classic," as well as the groundbreaking webseries The Third Age that Tubefilter called "An experience...an acid trip in web video form."
Set to the song "Intergalactic Spy" (one of over a dozen kitschy 'n' catchy tunes that make up the show's pop-eclectic score), the video will lay out Invader's fantastical premise, which involves extra-terrestrial subterfuge and lots of glamorously gorgeous gals.
The cast of the NYC Fringe production will be reprising their roles, and their awesome talent deserves a truly visually dazzling showcase.Your donations will form the production budget for the film. With your help, this will be a spectacularly impressive project. Our unending gratitude goes out to anyone who can help!
