I strongly believe that giving new talent a chance is essential to the future of art, fashion and, actually, any industry out there. My goal is to obtain backing to:
1- Produce samples for the spring 2014 Collection.
2- Showcase the collection this fall.
3- Sell the collection.
CAN WE EXCEED OUR END GOAL?
Of course, our end goal/amount can always be exceeded! That would just allow for more room to create better presentations, produce more beautiful garments, sell at a higher volume and create work for the team involved!
Most importantly, we must meet our goal; otherwise, the project doesn't obtain any funding at all.
ABOUT CHABELLA GOMEZ - MY STORY
Chabella Gomez was born in the Dominican Republic to a family of Dominican and Spanish descent. Growing up, she dabbled in a variety of art forms, eventually finding a home with fashion. Inspired by the women in her family, who would sew and design their own wardrobes, Chabella sought to learn everything related to fashion as an art form and how to turn the art of fashion into a viable business. Chabella obtained a business degree and began pursuing a career in business and marketing. Following her passion, Chabella settled in New York City, where she was accepted to the Fashion Institute of Technology and launched her label in 2010 with a presentation of her spring 2011 line at Le Cirque, in New York City. The spring collection, titled Paradiso, was inspired by tropical travels and ancient cultures, incorporating the colors of the ocean and the renewing, yet ever-fleeting, spirit of springtime. The line is geared toward women who appreciate fashion as a form of self-expression, and combines classic silhouettes with modern influences to create pieces that are fashion-forward, versatile and effortlessly wearable. In September 2012, Chabella presented the spring 2013 collection, titled ARTE, at her first European show in Milan, Italy. Presently, Chabella works tirelessly to grow and develop her lifelong passion into a label that reflects a metropolitan lifestyle and sensibility, and makes women feel beautiful, confident, smart and ready to pursue their own dreams and ambitions.
HOW IT ALL STARTED
Since I was a young girl, I have always been a lover of the arts and fashion. I dreamed about being a designer and having my own label. Growing up, I was strongly influenced by my mother’s love for fashion. She has always been very creative so I grew up watching her sew and style her own wardrobe. Finally, after dreaming about it for so long and doing lots of planning and research, I decided that it was time to make those dreams a reality and create my own collection. I launched with my own budget out of a small studio in my New York apartment in 2010 with the help of some incredible friends and family. The line consists of women’s ready-to-wear pieces such as dresses and separates. It is geared toward millennial, fashion-savvy women, and combines classic silhouettes with modern influences to create pieces that are fashion-forward, versatile and wearable. Since launching CHABELLA, I have showcased my collection in Milan, Italy as well as other venues in NYC. Currently, I am focused on developing the label and growing my customer base.

New York City is an incredibly inspiring city. Just walking down the street sparks the imagination. In my opinion, New York is truly the fashion capital of the world. All of the necessary resources are accessible, from fabric sourcing to trims, to pattern makers, New York City has it all. While other cities around the world are becoming more aware and supportive of emerging talent in the fashion industry (which is fantastic), New York has always been a leader in innovation and a place where people can start from the ground up. Working in NYC makes it possible to produce in the place where I live and conduct business, and to proudly contribute to the growth of the local economy and keeping the Garment District alive. That said, producing locally has proven to be far more expensive than outsourcing overseas, but it is worth it. On the production end, the major advantage is having better quality control and oversight of the production of garments, how employees are treated, and the conditions of the factories I work with. It’s just incredibly advantageous to be surrounded by an abundance of talent and great resources.
WHY I AM ASKING FOR YOUR SUPPORT
Creating a collection from beginning to end involves many different aspects and the costs are high. Right now, I work on the concepts for each collection on my own. When it comes to sample and production, the majority of the work is outsourced here in NYC’s garment district. I am able to work with talented freelancers and friends who help me put together the collections, assisting in everything from actual garment manufacturing to photography. I also have had the opportunity to meet and work directly with a lot of different vendors that have been a tremendous influence on the success that I, as an independent emerging designer, have been able to attain, thus far. As far as marketing the end product and putting together events to showcase the work, I have been fortunate to work with freelancers, and incredibly talented friends and family who are able to provide modeling, styling, photography, hair, makeup and website design to bring CHABELLA’s visions to life. For the European fashion presentation last fall, there was tremendous and generous outpouring of support in the form of sponsors who partnered to cover the costs associated with producing a fashion presentation such as, show location, staff and other costs. Everyone I work with is devoted to making CHABELLA a success. In the near future, I will be looking to expand my in-house team, and I already have a lot of good people in mind that I’m interested in working with. But, I can't continue to do it alone. As the business expands, more and more capital and financial resources are needed.

FOR THE GENTS
I have always wanted to dabble in made-to-measure menswear and accessories, so in an effort to provide incentive to male investors, I have added some cool rewards for the gentlemen. One of my first efforts to create menswear accessory pieces, which – given the resources - will expand in the future, is a handcrafted pocket square made in NYC. Choose from a variety of fun colors and prints.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT REWARDS
Product prizes/garments, which need to be manufactured, will be delivered by the date specified on the pledge prize. Invitations to the fashion presentation will be announced prior the event along with the official invitation. Artwork postcards and video recordings will be delivered by January 2014.

· Travel, lodging and transportation to the fashion presentation not included in any reward bundle.
· Must be over 18 or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to attend fashion presentation.
YOUR IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTION
As an independent, self-funded company, at this point the label is still "young." I look forward to expanding, and your investment is a crucial part of making that happen.Your contributions will help produce the spring 2014 collection, cover materials, sample makers, and other costs related to producing the first samples. A showcase will be held this fall to bring more exposure to the brand and the collection, thus creating greater opportunities for sales. Your contributions will also help pay for the costs associated with this showcase and promoting brand awareness.
There are other key individuals that have been a tremendous part of the CHABELLA team, who are not pictured on this page, but their efforts have been instrumental and have not gone unnoticed. Risks and challenges
Currently, the CHABELLA label is funded exclusively by me and requires collaborative effort, hard work and determination on the part of all involved. The risks associated with this project are those of any new business. Being independently funded also means very little (if any!) sleep and hard physical labor. While there are risks there are also many opportunities for growth and success, given the necessary resources.
There are many challenges that could arise when creating a collection and showcasing the end product. Careful planning has taken place to ensure that all bases are covered, however, as with any business venture there are always risks.
Collections and garments take time to produce; however, a system is in place to plan for unforeseen demand. All of the materials utilized in the collections are supplied from NYC’s Garment District’s local suppliers. Direct access to suppliers and factories is a big plus in ensuring that product is made and delivered in a timely fashion.
Products will be shipped via US mail.
We have incorporated prizes that are all part of the process of creating the collection and the end result. Delivery of rewards on a timely basis is of the utmost importance, both for your benefit and ours. Getting our products into your hands means more opportunities for valuable feedback from our customers.
The collection samples will be ready prior to the showcase this fall, at which point we would have already incurred some costs. It is why your contributions are so important. Successful presentations can lead to big sales of the collection. Kickstarter is an incredible platform to obtain the funds needed to make growth possible and I am grateful for this opportunity. With hard work and determination, I truly believe anything is possible.
