About this project
Fitness trackers are great. They can tell the time, monitor your heart rate, track your steps, your distance, and estimate your calorie burn. That's great for walkers and runners, but we all know what it's lacking. EVERYTHING ELSE! How do we track all the other aspects of our fitness routines? How do we stay motivated to come back again and again and work on strength and conditioning? The answer is Ktech Fitness.
What is Ktech Fitness?
Ktech Fitness will be the new age of fitness tracking. It is not designed to replace fitness watches, but only to complement them. Ktech Fitness is a Windows, iOS, and Android application that uses a high-tech camera and sensor to track your fitness routine and give you a fun aspect to get you and your friends motivated, strong, and fit.
Step in front of the camera and:
- Get recognized with facial recognition technology.
- Begin your workouts and track your push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, squats, lunges, and more, in real time.
- Get on the treadmill and track your walking, jogging, and running times.
- Get on the cable machines, bench presses and squat racks.
- Let the Kinect recognize the free weights you are lifting and keep track of your weight and reps.
Take your mobile phone and track your steps and distance using the Oak Fitness mobile app.
In addition to tracking fitness
We keep you motivated, by goal setting and reward recognition for leveling up your virtual Ktech Fitness character to track your progress.
To keep you on track, each workout is attributed to specific muscle groups: arms, legs, back, shoulders, chest, core, and cardio. Each group has a level. Level up each group and level your character up. This motivates you to stay on track and workout each of the major muscle groups to give you an overall fitness.
How it works (example): you do 10 push-ups, which attributes points to your arms, chest, cardio, and core groups and levels up these muscle groups. Then you do 10 squats and level up your legs. Then you do 5 pull-ups and level up your back and arms. You reach level 2 in each muscle group and you level up your overall fitness character. This keeps you on track and helps to motivate and improve your overall fitness.
Each time you level up or achieve any set milestones, you receive recognition, rewards, and points.
Earn enough points and use them for discounts, coupons, and purchases. Another motivational tool to keep you on track.
The Camera will be required to operate Ktech Fitness. You can use your Ktech Fitness account with a Microsoft Kinect sensor at home, or take it any where with you.
We want to get Ktech Fitness in every major fitness center to enhance the gym experience. Our goal is to partner up with major fitness centers to increase the applicability of Ktech fitness that goes beyond the home experience. Imagine a world where you can walk into your fitness center, work out, take a look at your Ktech Fitness mobile app and see your progress and stats. View exactly what workouts you did, what machines you used, how long and how many reps you did of each work out, all while enhancing your physical attributes.
We want to enhance Ktech Fitness to include group work outs with rewards and competition. Compete against others. Group up and compete against other groups. Take join your fitness center and compete against other fitness centers to earn even bigger rewards and recognition.
Risks and challenges
The time frame was determined to take 4-6 months, but for such a complex application, it may take a bit longer. We will work hard to deliver on time, but want to launch an application that you will all love.
Another challenge is to get fitness centers on board. We believe anything that enhances fitness and could potentially increase the likeliness of your visits to a fitness center will motivate them to come on board.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
