A full-evening concert of your own work... emerging composers dream about it, and when they get it, it's a milestone in their creative lives. I've gotten to that point, and I'm thrilled. The big event will take place in Berkeley, California on December 18th, 2010.
I'm privileged to live in the San Francisco Bay Area, which has a community of exceptional musicians, experts in new music and improvisation. Many of them have played my pieces before, purely out of enthusiasm for the music and without expecting payment other than a share of the door receipts. On this important occasion I want them to get paid something more than gas money.
I've applied for a grant of $1,000 from the American Composers Forum to fund artist fees. However, the requirements of the grant are that if I get it, I have to match it 1:1 with other funds. This is where you come in: individual donors can contribute the additional $1,000 to match that grant.
