The Man Who Shot Luke Skywalker and the Expanded Universe

Big and important news today, guys. If you're unfamiliar with The Man Who Shot Luke Skywalker (website, Facebook) then you have been missing out on an amazing journey through the past of Kenner's Star Wars action figures. The photographer behind many of the great vintage Star Wars toy photos, The Man Who Shot Luke Skywalker has been sharing with the world his packaging photos free of typography and distraction. So many amazing photos . . . and being offered now as prints!

Where does this fit into the Universe Expanded project? Well, it turns out that The Man Who Shot Luke Skywalker was also working with Kenner in the nineties and photographed the Expanded Universe and Shadows of the Empire action figures and vehicles. After a little discussion he has agreed to provide me with the unedited photos to include inside my new book. This is fantastic and really makes the book more exciting. I've now seen the pictures and wanted to make sure all of you got a peek; here's a quick cropped piece of one of the Expanded Universe Speeder Bike photos that have been shared with me.

Shadows of the Empire

I am still locking down the final details on a Shadows of the Empire book and can announce that this book will be a stretch goal. The exact details are not yet final, but the first stretch goal will be $5,500 at which point Empire of Shadows -- a book about the 1996 Shadows of the Empire action figures and vehicles -- will be released as a free PDF.

The next update should have information on how we then turn Empire of Shadows into a printed harcover book. I think all of you will be very happy with the plan.

Thanks for your support, and please share this project with all of your friends.

@Chris Cobbs - That's actually not too far off from what I've been working out. Going to make an announcement with details soonish.

Would you consider doing the hard cover version of SOTE as an Add-On instead of a stretch goal? You could estimate a price now, and those of us that want the book could increase our pledge accordingly, which would help you meet your stretch goal.
