At this point the clay sculpt is ready for moulding and casting in fibreglass/resin. But I still have a long way to go and many things left to do. At the moment I am still working on sculpting, and have just started on designing and working out clothes, boots and accessories for the piece. In November I signed up for a Swordsmithing class with Artist Blacksmith Owen Bush so I could forge a sword for my piece from scratch. Amongst some of the remaining tasks I'm going to work on leather scabbards for the sword + dagger, belts and metal belt pieces. I also have to properly work out realistic details like fingernails, eyebrows, eyelashes, surface painting etc. I really want to attempt to stay as true to the visual descriptions in the books as possible, while at the same time realising my own vision.
My initial goal is to cover the basic cost of materials and Kickstarter-rewards, which comes to 2500GBP / 30.000NOK* (scroll to the bottom for the cost breakdown!). Anything over that will also help out tremendously, because it means I can consider going the extra mile and get more high quality materials (like proper leather instead of scrap, nice non-synthetic fabrics etc.) and tools.
DISCLAIMER: I do not claim any ownership over the kingkiller chronicle/ name of the wind or it's characters! I am simply a passionate art student creating an art-piece inspired from the descriptions in the books!

Does Patrick Rothfuss know about this kickstarter?
No idea. I have attempted to get in touch with him earlier through his blog and other places, but he is a very busy man and have likely not picked up on my e-mails yet. If someone who knows him links this to him that would be radical because I would love for him to see my work.
UPDATE: HELL YEAH HE DOES
Are you/will you be working for NBC’s adaption of «Kingkiller»?
Wow no but I WISH!
Doesn’t your university provide you with tools and materials?
Sadly no, my school only provides us with access to the workshops, but all materials and most of the tools we use have to be provided by the students themselves.
Can I come see/scream in front of/throw iron at your figure?
You can indeed, but please refrain from throwing anything. This work will be available for public view and exhibited in the galleries of Wimbledon College of Art from the 20th - 27th of June. And anyone who has the means of getting there is welcome!
Is your piece for sale?
Since the project is inspired by Patrick Rothfuss's character, I've decided that the piece is not for sale until I've talked to Pat about it. If he thinks it's inappropriate I sell him/selling him violates intellectual property somehow I would want to respect Pat's wishes and refrain from doing so.
UPDATE!!: I am donating Cinder to Worldbuilder's after my degree show!
Risks and challenges
The figure is scheduled to be exhibited on the 18th - 27th of June, so there’s no doubt that the main project will be finished on time.
Some of the challenges will be to come up with new cool stuff to put up as rewards if I happen to run out of the ones already there. My goal will be to send out the rewards in July-August and I don’t really expect much delay on this. Of course unexpected things can happen, but I will do my best to plan ahead so I’ve got everything ready as soon as my graduation is done!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
