Hi, my name is Stephen Najarian, I am a fantasy artist that paints dragons and castles (and snowy mountains oh my!) and I travel around the country selling my work at comic conventions.
For the past two years I have been working on a series of Elemental God Dragons, Dragons that embody natural elements, and the forces of nature.
These elemental dragons have been some of my most popular prints that I sell at conventions. While at shows I would often get asked about turning them into playmats for tabletop and computer gaming.
Every time I would say "No the art really doesn't fit, I cannot fit a vertical image onto a horizontal playmat". Well, after two years of being asked I finally decided to say yes.
I am really excited to introduce you to my Elemental Dragon playmat kickstarter. I have gone and added additional art to three of my most popular Elemental Dragon paintings, Bringer of Storms, Of Fire and Stone, and the King of Winter. The extended artwork now makes each piece fit perfectly onto standard 14X24 tabletop gaming playmats. And I am launching these never before seen playmats right here on kickstarter.
New Added Playmats
Each playmat is 14X24 and has a 1/16 in neoprene backing that prevents the mats from slipping or sliding on your table. The mats are also water resistant, protecting them from any accidental spills. If the mats do get dirty, they are very easy to clean, the mats are machine washable (Note: washing machines are a-okay but dryers are not. The heat from the dryer can destroy the backing, so if you decide to wash the mat, just let it air dry)
In addition to the playmats, I am also offering metal prints of my Elemental Dragons as part of the campaign. The metal prints are printed on a 1/16 sheet of aluminum, and the results are truly stunning. You've never seen a more brilliant and impressive print! Colors are vibrant and the luminescence is breathtaking. Detail and resolution are unsurpassed. Each print has a saturation that far surpasses any paper prints, the metals give the impression that they are glowing. These are quickly turning into my most popular item at conventions.
For backers looking for something a little more "original" I will be making graphite pencil drawings of dragons to go along with the rewards. Each drawing will be a 8X10 graphite drawing. The drawings will be limited so do not wait to select this option.

You can add on as many items as you like. At the end of the campaign you will asked what add-on's you would like and will be included in your package.
Stretch goals you say!?
The main campaign will feature the three above Elemental Dragons, however, if the campaign hits any of its stretch goals it will unlock playmat versions of the other dragons. When each stretch goal is hit, you the backers get to choose which dragon you would like to see added and I will add the extra art so the artwork will fit the playmat dimensions

Risks and challenges
There really are not any major risks with this campaign. the artwork for the first three dragons are done, I will be using the same supplier that I use for both my playmats and metal prints, and I have worked with this vendor for the past 4 years printing and selling playmats. I have already been in talks with him to make sure that the order will be printed so I can pick up the mats at Gen Con in the first week of August. The artwork is done, the vendor is lined up.
I have 2 successful kickstarters under my belt so I have a good sense of what to expect, I also used to work in a print shop packaging and shipping orders, so I am well prepaired for the logistics and shipping at the end of the campaign. I am aiming to have the mats delivered in early august, I do have several conventions that I will be traveling to and exhibiting at, so to er on the side of caution I set the delivery for everyone in September. Most of you should see your orders shipped before then.
The only real risk is the project not getting funded, or I get in some sort of horrible accident. Barring any acts of God that throw even my conservative projections off I will absolutely update you and let you know what is going on throughout the process.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
