JAMIE BRISICK on Why SLAKE: LOS ANGELES Matters

“Not only has Slake given Los Angeles a wonderful, slow-cooked lit journal, it's provided a sense of community, a scene, a movement. Slake events feel familial, and often end in late-night, heartwarming dinners.”
                                                  —Jamie Brisick

Jamie is the author of We Approach Our Martinis with Such High Expectations and has written for The New York Times, TheGuardian, Details, and The Surfer’s Journal. In Slake's debut issue, he wrote “Blood and Water” about the early days of his surfing career. An interview with The New Yorker writer William Finnegan will appear in Issue 4.
