Me: Hi! My name is Lee Johnson and I am an object maker and video, social, and new media artist living in Brooklyn, NY. I am taking my business to the next level and I need your support! Shall we begin?
The Story: I was asked by Mad Momos, a new contemporary American restaurant with a global twist opening in Washington DC, to recreate a line of functional ceramics titled Evolution that I originally fabricated and sold in 2007. Mad Momos wants to use this collection for special events and select dishes as well as sell the work in the restaurant. Along with this line I was asked to have an exhibition of my recent video and sculpture at RedBat studios in Columbia Heights, DC this April.
You: YOU are essential because you are amazing! Basically I do not have the capital to produce the quantity of work needed for Mad Momos or to hire employees! By joining this project you can pre-purchase works from the Revolution collection, gain access to all the videos, win eccentric perks from my team, and even get the ability to purchase ANYTHING wholesale from the Revolution collection. So if you want all your dinnerware to be the talk of the town, or if you are interested in carrying Revolution in your retail store, the top rewards bracket may be for you. To read the comprehensive business plan, including my initial inspiration for the line, visit http://www.affectedproductions.com/re_evolution.html.
The idea: “Today we are in the middle of a new media revolution that is shifting our culture to computer-mediated forms of distribution, production, and communication.” (Lev Manovich). A gap, ripe for exploration, currently exists between hand-made objects and the content of the images that are expressed through video and web-based media. With your support my talented team of artists will take our technical abilities, business savvy, and eccentricities into production for the upcoming Revolution Collection and the kickoff of the Affected Productions Company.
Funds: The funding goal will pay for the rewards, two employees, video production, and fabrication of the collection for Mad Momos! The return on the line will then be used to kick off future projects that are already in my queue. This single project will give us the base to launch repeated projects and hire more employees as we expand in scope.
