Hi folks! We're raising the funds we need to release our next album independently. No major record label, except the one we started (Fire It Up Records)… just us and you. This is our first FULLY LEGIT album endeavor. We've spent 2 years writing the songs for this record, and most recently, piecing together the new band. Dead Modern Villains is comprised of creative musicians / writers / artists KEITH BOUCHE, DAVID ARENDT, and CODY BORLEY. In April, we found ourselves in the studio we built in Green Bay and, we made what we believe is our best music to date. We laid down "Secret Agent,” "Aunt Hazel,” "Month of June,” "Cheap Hotels," and a shit-load of other great tracks... some featuring KEYS (locally grown in Green Bay, WI!), GUITAR, and FAT fucking BAD-ASS GROOVES. Hell, even HAND CLAPS that will get you amped. After we finished, it was in good hands with Mystery Room Mastering (Milwaukee) and Lucky Lacquers (Madison). These guys are the best and work with some of our music heroes! Rainbo Records in CA is pressing this double vinyl LP project for us. This is quality.
WATCH THIS! The video below is a performance of opening track on the album "Secret Agent" in our studio:
We're finalizing the printing and pressings as we launch this. The art & music is all done and ready for you guys. We’ve signed off on the vinyl test presses! We hoped we'd have released it by now, but man, it's expensive. We expect great things to happen when this record comes out in FEBRUARY. The band will be touring the hell out of it. BUT, since we’re without the big label to front the tons & mega-tons of dollars that it requires to manufacture and promote a record like this, we’re coming to you to gather funds so that we have the financial assets to put it out with a huge blast.
Those in the know think Kickstarter and crowdfunding platforms like this are THE BEST way to put out music right now - no big label, just the music, and the art. We’re also making sure every product sold through this kickstarter is unique to this campaign, to reward all of you who were willing to support us from THE START.
Ok guys, let's do this...**ALL SHIPPING COSTS ARE INCLUDED IN EVERY PACKAGE, NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE!**

YOU ARE THE MEDIA: Immediately after you support this kickstarter, PLEASE TELL EVERYONE YOU'VE DONE IT, AND SPREAD THE LINK ACROSS THE LAND. Thank you. Sincerely, thank you.
FAQ: I really like you guys and I want to help but I don't have any money! Times are really tough for a lot of people, we get that. You can still be very helpful by telling all your friends and family about this campaign! Really spreading the word can be just as valuable as donating.
We think the future of music is going to close the gap between bands and fans, and traditional record labels won't have a place in that future. We are very hopeful about our Kickstarter because any success here is going to allow for us to release this album the right way. Why $2,500? First and foremost, we need to pay the people that helped make this music! We've set the goal very low, but that's the minimum we need right now to fulfill the last of our commitments for this first run. We've footed the bill thus-far by working our butts off and gigging... a lot. We've gone the majority of the way on our own, but now we're asking for help. We've got a lot to prove with Phantasmagoria, and we're glad we have you to help us make it all happen.
All in all, being proud of ourselves and what we've created together is all we really need in order to be happy. We're not doing this to be filthy-rich mega-stars, that's not what motivates us. We're artists first, but we're also a hard working band. Almost every dollar we make playing gigs and selling our music and merch goes right back into the band. If you've ever been in a band you'd know there's always something to pay for, from buying equipment to all kinds of promotion, travel, shooting music videos, mixing, mastering, vinyl pre-mastering, laquer cutting, pressing, printing costs, fixing the van and on and on... It's tough. But we love it!
When you become a backer of this Kickstarter, you're showing your support for a great new way of doing things. A win/win!! This really is the future of music.
We've come up with a GREAT list of rewards for our backers, but if you think of something you would like to see added to our list, please let us know. We want this to be an incredibly collaborative process from start to finish. It all starts with you... And, well, it never ends. When you see our new album on Amazon or at your local record store / retailer, when you hear a song from Phantasmagoria on the radio, spotify, you'll know you've played an inherent part in the whole process!
Don't forget this. YOU are now the media. Things have changed! We need your help raising the money to meet our modest goal but perhaps even more importantly we need your help spreading the word about our Kickstarter! Share links to this page on your Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and your blogs, tell your friends, tell whoever! We're in a tight race now - if we don't reach our set goal we get nothing! If we do manage to raise more than our goal, every additional dollar will make more and MORE possible for us. And more cool stuff for you! Thanks again for participating in making our vision come true, and even more, thank you for your consideration!
Instead of trying to fully fund every aspect of this release, we wanna offer this as a pre-order, so you get what you pay for. Obviously, the high tiers are for the slightly more venturesome, but they'll be as killer as we can (legally?) get them. Self-releasing AND still trying to do the best shit can be intimidating, but having a chance to go through Kickstarter can totally smack that on it's back-side.
Even with how far we've come, there are certainly a lot of people in the music world who will tell us our vision is wrong, and the way we are doing things shouldn't work. The traditional funding systems are profit-focused and risk-averse, and a lot of great ideas never get a chance. We love this medium because it takes all the control out of their hands and puts it into yours. Looking forward to sending you something! Grateful. Humbled. Excited. THANK YOU!! -Love, DMV
Risks and challenges
We aim to have Phantasmagoria pressed and ready for release on Feb 14, 2014. Of course, there is always the chance that pressing issues may mean that this is delayed, but we will get the album out to all those who have pledged as soon as we have them in our hands. There may be postal delays which are outside of our jurisdiction, but if you really need an item for a set date - we can arrange (at an extra cost) a courier or guaranteed delivery service.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
