What is this new trike all about?
The Dreisch Leaning Trike is an entirely new type of tricycle that lets children get comfortable with leaning into turns like they would on a bicycle, but on three wheels – so there’s little risk of toppling. It’s a fantastic learning tool for kids 2.5 - 5 years old who are just learning to ride so they develop good riding habits and it puts them in a better position to ride a bicycle later on. But, beyond the learning aspect, it’s also a heck of a lot of fun for kids to ride.
The Dreisch Leaning Tricycle has a specially-designed frame that allows for a safe lean angle when turning. This lean angle mirrors a “regular” bicycle experience and opens up a fun new range of motion in your child’s ride. It transforms every turn into an exciting learning experience your child will love – and helps prepare them for riding a bicycle when they’re ready.
Vision for the Dreisch Leaning Trike
The vision for the Dreisch Leaning Tricycle came to light when Rich, a product designer and cycling and motorcycling enthusiast, witnessed a friend’s child struggling to ride a bicycle. It seemed to him that the child had never learned that in order to make a good turn on a bicycle you have to lean into the turn.
As you probably know, the experience of riding a traditional tricycle or a bicycle with training wheels is quite different than riding a bicycle. In fact, because you cannot lean into turns on a traditional tricycle nor a bicycle with training wheels, kids riding these toys often develop bad habits which they then have to unlearn when learning to ride a bicycle.
To address these shortcomings of traditional tricycles, we set out to create a tricycle experience that’s more exciting and also teaches kids not to be afraid to lean into turns.
We looked at traditional tricycle designs and determined that, to make the experience similar to a bicycle, we would need to design a tricycle that allows for a safe lean angle. After many prototypes and revisions… The result is the Dreisch Leaning Tricycle – The trike that rides like a bike!

Why We're Doing This
We love to ride. Period. And we want to share our passion and support the development of that love among children across the country (and hopefully eventually around the world). We wholeheartedly believe that our new tricycle design will help children to develop good riding habits and add to the excitement and fun they get out of riding.
Our goal is to scale up this design and the Dreisch brand into a ride-on toy business which is why we're asking for your support. We plan to use the support we raise to purchase more materials and begin to scale our business.
Who is Dreisch?
Dreisch is a family-owned company – started by 2 brothers with a passion for cycling, motorcycling and anything on 2 wheels. Steve has a strong marketing and business background. Rich is a designer with a focus on innovation. Our good friend Chris Klein, an advertising producer, has recently joined the team as well as our video production guru. Our father, Rich, with a lifetime of experience in aerospace engineering and management, has also contributed his insight and has even machined some of the custom parts for the trikes we'll be building.
How long does it take to learn?
Many children are able to ride the first time they sit down – all it takes is learning to pedal the wheels. Learning curves are different for different children.
How old does a child have to be to ride?
The Dreisch Leaning Tricycle is designed for children ages 2.5 - 5 years old.
How cool will I look in a Dreisch tshirt or with a Dreisch sticker on my own ride?
Very cool - just check out the designs and judge for yourself!

Do you ship worldwide?
Right now we’re shipping to the US, but if you’re international please contact us and we’ll see about addressing your needs.
Is assembly required?
The Dreisch Leaning Tricycle will arrive nearly fully assembled, but some assembly is required. We've put together a simple instruction manual that will be included in your package. All you need to do is fasten a few bolts with the wrenches provided with your trike - and there's even a step-by-step online tutorial we've created if you run into any problems.
Is it adjustable?
The Dreisch Leaning Tricycle has an adjustable seat and is built to last from adult-quality components – so your child can enjoy years of fun before outgrowing it – The adjustable seat will accommodate most 2.5 - 5 year olds.
Does it require any maintenance?
Like many bikes and ride-on toys, it requires some ongoing maintenance. Bolts may loosen from movement and vibration, so make sure to check them for tightness before each ride. Do not leave or store outside for long periods of time. Though it is protected by paint and lacquer, it is still made of wood, and is susceptible to warping and degradation from too much exposure to the elements. Failure to perform routine maintenance of or follow the storage recommendations may void the warranty.
Risks and challenges
The Dreisch Leaning Trike has already been fully designed, fabricated and even tested with friends' children. We have sourced all parts required for producing the trike in quantities required for our kickstarter campaign. We have all the necessary equipment and tools required to fabricate our trike in our home workshop. So, there is little risk that we will not be able to fulfill our rewards to supporters.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
