Orcs Orcs Orcs is a game for two to four players, ages 13 & up, that combines two excellent game mechanics that have not been paired before (deck building and tower defense) and has players casting spells, squashing orcs and rolling up the score in the Orc Squash Tournament. The theme and game come alive with the outstanding art and components that you have come to expect from Queen Games.
Why 13& up? One of the orcs is unhappy that he is part of the Orc Squash tournament and is making a gesture that may be offensive to some people.
Welcome to the annual Orc Squash Tournament! This annual competition pits the realm's most skilled mages against the orcs and each other. Competitors defend the tower against the charging orc horde. Take the best spot on the tower and squash the most orcs by skillfully casting spells. All is fair in the tournament – so let the games begin – it is time to see who can claim the Orc Squasher crown!
Players take on the roles of mages entering a competition to see who is the most skilled. Squash the most orcs and be declared the champion!
The mages start the game on top of the tower in the middle of the battlefield. The battlefield consists of six lanes, each with three sectors, radiating out from the tower. On these lanes the orcish hordes will try to charge all the way towards the tower. Your job is to defeat them before they can reach you.
At the beginning of each game round players draw a fate card, which will determine which category of creatures will advance one sector towards the tower and sometimes implement a nasty rule change for that particular game round. There are three categories of orcs which differ in strength and special abilities that are conveyed to a player once an orc is defeafed.
First you have to make sure that the supply of charging and squashable orcs does not stop, so you put a new orc fella on one of the outer sectors of a random lane.
A players has two actions each turn.
1. Teleport to a different spot on the tower (to get yourself in excellent orc squashing position).
2. Cast Spells - Spells are divided into three categories:
Damage spells: Especially good for smashing, burning, freezing and pulverizing orcs. The catch, you can only target creatures which are on your lane, so better be on a good spot or teleport to one on the tower.
Support spells: These spells help you alter the board situation, draw more cards, teleport for free or hinder your opponents.
Lore spells: Casting these spells lets you learn a new and more powerful spell from a random array of six, which you can add to your deck. These learned spells will greatly improve your chances.
At the start of the game you have a starting deck of spells from which you draw 4 spells to be available on that turn.
Spells you cast can be of different strength. The Zap spell for example does one damage if played alone. But if you can play another spell with the same mana symbol your Zap spell becomes stronger and does two damage. The only catch is, you cannot cast the spell that you used to increase the damage of your Zap. So choose wisely, which spells you want to cast and which ones you use to boost other spells.
If your damage is equal or greater than the creature's life points you defeat it and collect the trophy. Once you have defeated two creatures of the same kind you get a special ability for the rest of the game. There are very helpful ones like drawing five instead of four spells each round or taking three instead of two actions available each round.
The game ends when on four lanes you run out of orcs. During the final scoring players count up their defeated orcs and multiply them by the number on the creature counter, get points for each support spell learned and subtract points for each poison card in their deck. Whoever has the most points will be declared "Master Mage"!
The basic game comes with two modules to spice things up once you are familiar with the game.
Module: Secret Missions
There are eight secret missions in the game.
At the start of the game each player gets two secret missions, keeping one and discarding the other (it goes out of play). The missions stay hidden until the final scoring. Each mission awards bonus points depending on how many times the player has fulfilled the condition depicted on the card.
Module: Bonus Actions
In this module each strong and brute orc gives a different bonus action once defeated. At the start of the game just flip your trophy board to play with the Bonus Actions.
With Reinforcements players are getting three new modules that alter the game in interesting ways.
Three reptile creatures are joining battle with the orcs. At the start of the game choose with which you want to play and just switch them with one of the corresponding creatures of the basic game.
Flying Croc: The tough one among the so called “weak” Creatures. With his three life points he makes it a hell of a lot harder for the mages to get things going in terms of special abilities.
Spawning Toad: Once this big blob is defeated he drops a Toadling token on the sector where he was located. The toadling has one life point and when defeated gives the mage a one-time use special ability such as take one extra action, draw a card or gain a mana of his choice.
Bomber: Defeating him on your first action gives you a huge opportunity to get even more things done on your turn since he will inflict one damage to all creatures on the same patch.
There are three terrain types coming with this module which will have different effects once a creature steps onto them. At the start of the game mix the terrain patches and put them randomly across the battlefield.
Streets: Creatures who step onto a street will immediately advance one patch closer to the tower, so be careful.
Stone field: Creatures on the stone field have cover and thus have an extra life point.
Mandrel vines: Creatures are getting hurt in those vines thus having minus one life point.
Module: New Fate cards.
With the addition of the new fate cards things become increasingly more difficult for the mages to deal with the charging orc hordes. The most important rule change is that mages can now only attack creatures in the front lines, meaning the first creatures they see on their lane. So better secure the best spots on the tower. The new fate cards change the way creatures are moving towards the tower. They now move in packs and on specific lanes, rather than a whole category.

Risks and challenges
Orcs Orcs Orcs is the first release from the designer Frank Thyben and we are proud to present it here as a Kickstarter Special!
Our toughest challenge with our previous projects has involved the coordination of production when a game is made with components from different manufacturers. This creates some logistics and shipping challenges that we want to improve upon. Going forward our plan is to minimize this situation so that we can better manage our production timeline and delivery.
In the case of Orcs Orcs Orcs, we have the component specifications and resources in place, so we are very excited about the expected turn around time for this project. Orcs Orcs Orcs is planed to be launched at the Essen show and is expected to be released in retail in November in the EU and in early 2015 in the US and Canada. We will make our utmost effort to ship the game to backers in October/early November. It may be that some backers receive their games during or after the Essen show. We offer the option of Essen/BGG-Con pick up for backers who wish to do so.
Greed, Tortuga, Fresco Big Box and Kingdom Builder Big Box are shipped out to backers.
Escape Big Box are also proceeding according to schedule.
Due to shipping time (ocean transit, customs, rail/truck, and final delivery), our release policy for Kickstarter Games releases is that they will be released in the EU when they are available since we produce in Holland. North America will be 6-8 weeks after that and for backers everywhere else it will be 8-10 weeks from the EU launch.
