Why a second campaign?
Great question! Recently the 2018 nominees for the prestigious Spiel des Jahres award were announced and we are very proud to have been nominated.
As a result, we have had many and expect even more questions about how to late pledge for the Luxor Collector's Edition campaign. So, in order to give those fans a chance to get the Luxor Collector’s Edition, we decided to run a follow up campaign. Backers on this campaign will receive everything, including stretch goals, from the first campaign. Plus, we will be including a bonus Queenie expansion for Expedition Luxor (rethemed Robber Knights). Don’t worry if you are a backer from the first campaign, you will also be receiving this bonus content!
Production for the Luxor Collector’s Edition is still on schedule and will not be altered due to any of these events. We still anticipate a July 2018 delivery.
On the hunt for fame and priceless treasures, groups of adventurers explore the legendary temple at Luxor. Their ultimate goal is the tomb of the pharaoh, but many treasures can be found as they search?
As the parties explore, the challenge unfolds: The player who manages to quickly get their team of adventurers to the tomb, while salvaging as many treasures as possible, will be the winner.
Luxor offers variable game play – the path that leads to the tomb is different for every game, and can even change during play! A fast-paced family game with an innovative movement mechanism and an ever-changing game board.
In this Kickstarter, we are offering the Collector's Edition of Luxor which includes:

In addition to the nomination for Luxor, we are proud to have had another of our games, Pioneers, included on the Kennerspiel (gamer’s game) recommended list. Since they were both considered, we thought it made sense to include them both as an option on this campaign, which we did in our Kickstarter Special.

Luxor - Forgotton Treasures
Designed by Rüdiger Dorn (Istanbul, Goa, Las Vegas) is a family game for 2-4 players ages 8 and up and takes about 45 min.
On the hunt for fame and priceless treasures, groups of adventurers explore the legendary temple at Luxor. Their ultimate goal is the tomb of the pharaoh, but many treasures can be found as they search.
In Luxor, players move their adventurers through the temple with the goal of reaching the tomb in the middle of the game board. At the start of the game each player gets dealt 5 cards, which he is not allowed to change the order of.
In each round players take turns that consist of 3 actions:
1. Choose either the left or right most card to play to the discard pile.
According to the played card move, one adventurer that many tiles forward towards the tomb. An adventurer only moves from tile to tile, jumping over empty spaces and not counting them.
2. When the adventurer has completed his movement, he performs the action of that tile, if possible. Depending on the tile this can have various effects:
Treasure tile - If enough of a players adventurers player are placed on a tile, the player can collect that tile and earn points for it. Additionally he keeps the tile, trying to collect treasure sets consisting of the three different treasure kinds, vase, statue and necklace.
Once a treasure tile is collected and removed, it leaves either an empty space, or a temple tile if a symbol is revealed.
Horus tile - The player can either gain a key or a Horus Card. He will need the key to enter the tomb and the special Horus card offers unique and strong ways to move his adventurers once he plays that card.
Osiris tile - The tile acts as an catapult instantly moving the adventurer a certain amount of tiles forward.
Temple tile - On these tiles players get special bonuses, like scarabs that are worth victory points or joker tiles, which complete treasure sets. The most unique tile is the tunnel. If an adventurer lands on a tunnel he instantly gets teleported to the next tunnel in play, creating a shortcut through the temple.
3. After performing the action of the tile, players draw one card from the draw pile to refill their hand to five cards. The drawn card is placed in the middle of the hand.
At the start of the game, players can chose to move one of 2 adventurers. Every time an adventurer crosses over an Anubis statue for the first time he gains a new adventurer which is placed at the start.
This way the number of choices increases and there are plenty of opportunities to get the missing tiles that you need.
The game ends once two adventurers reach the tomb. But in order to get in the tomb and collect the valuable sarcophagi, players need to have a key, which they collect from landing on Horus tiles. One key is needed for each adventurer wanting to enter the tomb.
The round is finished and then the game ends with a final scoring.
In the final scoring players total up their points. During the game players earned points for each treasure tile they collected. Now they get the following bonus points:
- Each adventurer is worth points according to the space he reached in the temple.
- Leftover keys, scarabs and sarcophagus are scored.
- Each full treasure set awards points
The player who now has the most points is the winner!

This Kickstarter edition offers four very unique Queenies that each alter the game play in interesting ways and offer new challenges for the players.These can be played separately or in any combination.
Queenie: Swarm of Scarabs
The new scarab tiles offer a wide variety of one shot actions. Once acquired, a player can choose on which of his turns he wants to use the action.
During set-up, the new scarab tiles can either replace the ones from the basic game or be shuffled in. The players decide which way they want to play.
- Play any card, instead of just the left or right most card.
- When entering a tunnel jump straight to the last discovered tunnel.
- Disregard the played card, instead move one of your adventurers to your next following adventurer.
- Disregard the played card and instead use the effect of one of the top Horus cards from the display.
- Disregard the played card and move one of your adventurers to the next treasure tile.
Queenie: The Snake God's Boon
The snake god tiles change the way you play Luxor significantly!
As long as one adventurer is placed on a tile, he unlocks a very powerful ability for that player to use every turn. The player has the ability as long as at least one of his adventurers is remaining on the tile. The player may chose to not use an ability on his turn.
During set-up these tiles replace the Osiris tiles of the basic game. So there are 4 abilities to gain during each play. How long will you stay on one tile and get the benefit before you move your adventurer off, to not fall behind...
- Play any card except the card in the middle of your hand.
- Place the drawn card anywhere on your hand.
- Disregard your played card and move one of your adventurers 1-3 spaces further.
- Disregard your played card and chose one of your adventurers that does not move but activates the tile again, if he can.
Queenie: Secret Missions
Secret mission tiles give you extra opportunities to earn points by exchanging treasures, keys, scarabs and progression to get even more rewards for them.
Once a player fulfills the requirements of the mission tile, he puts the needed tiles back into the game box, along with the mission tile, and advances his scoring marker on the track accordingly.
Each player get's one randomly drawn mission tile at the start of the game with an opportunity to get three more during the course of the game. Every time a new adventurer enters the game by crossing over one of the Anubis statues, the player chooses one of the remaining mission tiles associated with that statue and leaves the rest for the other players.
Mission tiles award many points, but you have to discard the required tiles. So better be sure if it's worth it!
Queenie: The Treasure Chamber
The treasure chamber is, like the name implies, filled with treasures that award many points. There are four entrances to the chamber around the game board. To open an entrance the treasure tile that is placed over the entrance has to be collected by a player. After that, every adventurer can enter the treasure chamber when he lands on one of the entrances.
There you can find valuable treasures, but only if your quicker than the other players. Once a treasure is collected, it is gone. While it is lucrative to go through the treasure chamber, only when you get to the end, you will be back on the game board appearing on the last discovered entrance. Adventurers inside the treasure chamber at game end will award no points for the player.
Go grab that treasure, but be sure to be back in time!
Luxor - Expedition
This edition will be put directly into the box! Luxor - Expedition is a re-imagination of designer Rüdiger Dorn's older game, Robber Knights. It is an excellent family game that was published by Queen Games in 2005. It features completely new artwork and bigger cardboard tiles than the original.
The graphics will be completely changed to fit the Luxor theme. What were knights that conquered the surrounding land are now the adventurers discovering temples and pyramids to claim the treasures within.
The adventurers set off from their camps to scout the surrounding land. For each temple and pyramid they find can reward them with valuable treasures as long as they have control over the tile at the end of the game.
Of course, once found, no player wants to lose his newly discovered buildings, so use caution. The other players are aware of the opportunity and the newly gained fortune may be lost again just as quickly to another player.
Whoever places their landscape tiles and adventurers most skillfully throughout the game will be the winner.

Pioneers by Emanuele Ornella for 2-4 players is a great family game which is easy to learn and brings a lot of interesting tactical choices to the game night.
In a game of Pioneers, the players attempt to populate the cities shown on the game board with their pioneers, using coaches to transport them around the map. Each pioneer has a specific profession, and can only be settled in a city where their work is needed. A player settling a pioneer in the right city will either get a permanent or immediate ability granted. Permanent abilities bring more income or additional purchase actions, while immediate actions bring various effects and used at the right time can decide if you win or lose.
After all the pioneers riding in a coach have been deployed on the game board, the player controlling the coach earns money and victory points.
In addition, the players construct roads between the cities, expanding their own network and earning money from other players who use the roads. At the end of the game, each player will be rewarded with additional victory points based on the number of their pioneers in their largest network of connected roads. The player with the most victory points is the winner of the game!

Risks and challenges
Queen Games is a company with over 25 years of experience to it's name.
We know about the Kickstarter challenges, such as coordination of production from multiple manufacturers, delays with production and shipping, challenges with shipping around the world and missing or lost packages.
Also, despite sending the rewards at the same time, backers in different regions of the world may receive their rewards sooner than others because of logistics of international shipping.
