Escape: The Curse of the Temple
Escape: The Curse of the Temple has been one of the most well-beloved titles in the Queen Games library, and has accumulated three expansions and many Queenies, as well as two editions of a Big Box. In this campaign, we are debuting two new expansion modules for the game to give new challenges to new and veteran players alike. One expansion module will contain three Quests and the other three Traps. The new expansions will be exclusive to direct sales from Queen Games. In addition, many of our Escape products are out of print, so along with the new content we will be reprinting both the base box and the Big Box.
New dangers await! Do you dare take on the curse of the temple?
In addition to Escape products, we are offering a Kickstarter Special on two of our most popular products, the reprint of Escape Second Edition Big Box, and the recently reprinted Kingdom Builder Big Box.
Escape Base Game
Escape: The Curse of the Temple is a real-time cooperative game in which all players must escape from a temple after awakening an ancient curse. The game plays in precisely 10 minutes, with an included soundtrack (also available digitally) counting down the game. Players must navigate through the temple by rolling dice and matching symbols to rooms, thereby gaining entry and visibility into adjacent rooms. The map of the temple will unfold as the players explore, making every game play different. At certain points a countdown starts, and if players aren't back in the safe room when time is up, they will become "lost" and lose one of their dice.
New Quests and Traps
This campaign will add three new Quest chambers and three new Trap chambers to the game.
The campaign includes new Quests and Traps that players must navigate, which adds to the tension of the game and forces players to work together even more. Quests require players to meet certain conditions in the room, whereas traps immediately capture a player and force them to work to Escape (or face the dire consequences).
The development work on these new rooms is almost completed, but some details may change if the development team feels it creates a better experience.
The Riddle chamber (Quest)
Players have to solve the riddle of the 4 statues! When the room is revealed, the four statues are placed face down in the four places in the wall. When players roll a set of symbols, they reveal the tile. Tiles must be revealed in the order indicated on the wall (blue, red, yellow, green). If a tile is revealed out of order, all statues are turned back over and players must start again.
The Quicksand chamber (Trap)
When this trap is revealed, the player's adventurer is placed in the middle of the quicksand. They now only have a limited number of rolls to try and free themselves from impending doom. They can roll a maximum of 4 times and try to collect 4 torches to escape the quicksand. If they fail, they are stuck and cannot roll their dice again, until other players enter the chamber and roll the 4 torches to help them escape.
Exclusive Queenies 12 - 14
These Queenies were specially produced for BGG and Dice Tower three years ago in limited quantities. Here we want to give everybody the chance to also get their hands on them.
Queenie 12: Slide
This Queenie comes with two chambers and a curse. The slide chamber is a tricky one, because you can enter it for free from the staircase side. But if you want to enter the chamber from the other side, you have to roll 3 torches. So better be sure before using the slide to often.
The debris chamber is interesting since in order to discover this chamber a player not only has to roll two adventurer icons but in addition also a key and a torch.
And finally the Cyclops curse makes you cover one of your eyes with your hand and leave it there until the curse is lifted. Sounds easy, but rolling with one hand and moving your adventurer with the limited vision is very tricky!
Queenie 13: Map
The map chamber is a great destination for players since it is one of the few chambers that actually help the players and make the escape a little bit easier. Inside the chamber a player can roll 2 torch icons and then place their adventurer in any chamber that they want, allowing the player to quickly navigate the temple and help other players.
Queenie 14: Wishing Well
This chamber also helps the players succeed. If you roll 2 key icons, you may either draw a treasure, get rid of a curse, or regain one of your lost dice! And you can use the wishing well multiple times... But only one wish at a time, so you have to leave the chamber and reenter if you want to use it more than once.

Why Back the Kickstarter (And Post-Kickstarter Availability)
Backing the Kickstarter guarantees you get the product earliest and at the best price. We do not use a pledge manager, but a late pledge will be available via our webstore.
Our plans for these products post-campaign:
- The new expansions will be sold direct from Queen Games or at conventions, and there are no settled plans for distribution.
- Our Big Boxes are premium products, and often do not enter distribution in many markets, including North America.
- The base game will be for sale through retailers in Europe and North America.
Some products on our Kickstarters will be available for a limited time (and an increased cost) on our webstore (www.queengames.shop).
Production and Delivery
The production of the Escape games is planned for August/September 2019. As soon as it is produced, we plan to ship the pledges out to backers shortly after. We print our games at factories in Europe, so there are no long boat rides involved. All dates in this campaign are our best estimates, but are subject to change.
Queen Games is not responsible for any local charges, customs and/or lost packages due to local postal service. We will not reimburse you if that is the case. Sending a pledge a second time, if the first package did not make it due to one of the above mentioned reasons, can only be offered if the backer covers the shipping cost in full.
Please make sure, that the address you are using and any notes down in the survey, following this campaign is up to date, and written in English.
Risks and challenges
Queen Games is a company with over 25 years of experience to it's name.
We know about the Kickstarter challenges, such as coordination of production from multiple manufacturers, delays with production and shipping, challenges with shipping around the world and missing or lost packages.
Also, despite sending the rewards at the same time, backers in different regions of the world may receive their rewards sooner than others because of logistics of international shipping.
By pledging to this project, you acknowledge that the name, final look and materials of the project and hence the rewards, are subject to change and may differ from what is presented while the Kickstarter campaign was active.
If you do not accept these terms, please do not pledge on this project but instead wait for the general release.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
