Intùiti Creative Cards
Hi, my name is Matteo and I have always been involved in the creative field: I've worked as a designer, an art director, a copywriter, and I published a novel.
A few years ago I tried to imagine a tool for creative thinking.
And Intùiti is what happened later.
Intùiti is a deck of cards for Creativity.
It was born as a project of the Polytechnic University of Milan and it represents a new way of living the subject of creativity, an issue that is often superficially tackled. Instead of forcing the user to find an idea, as it happens with some techniques like brainstorming or the mind map, Intùiti invites to sit calmly and to feel what one has to give, remembering that creating must be a source of joy and satisfaction.
Intùiti proposes pointed suggestions, obtained from the analysis of classic tarots, that are a rich collection of archetypes. It has not an esoteric purpose: each card is related to a thinking model that belongs to our culture, a powerful incentive that can put in motion creative and inspirational processes.
Intùiti is a synthesis of Design, Tarots, Numerology and Gestalt Psychology. At the same time it is a serious game and a powerful tool that doesn’t treat the creative act according to rigid schemas, but it brings out its bright side.
How to use it
Intùiti is composed of 78 cards and 78 tales (one per card) collected in a booklet, available both in italian and english.
In the pack you will find two series of pictures: the primary intùitis and the secondary intùitis. The first ones (bordered in black in the photos and indicated by Roman numerals) are extensive inspirations; the second ones (bordered in white) are more specific. To each picture corresponds an evocative tale that intensify its sensation.
Each card represents a powerful incentive and is designed using Gestalt principles so you can recognize emotionally the related archetype.
You can play as you feel best. There are no rules. It's a tool for creative thinking based on visual and imaginary associations, so you just have to shuffle the deck, pick a card, and "let it speak".
Intùiti is not an answer
Often people want to find the solution to their "creative problems" in a tool or in method; they would like to have an equation or an algorithm able to solve the real issue of Creativity: to create something new. But using a "recipe" for writing a novel means to have produce something, not to have invent something.
For this reason I want to precise that Intùiti is not an algorithmic function which can "make people creative", or a scientific method able to produce thousands of brilliant ideas. It's an inspirational tool: it's not an answer, but a continuos question.
Applications in schools and companies
Intùiti is originally designed for an individual use, as a chance to sit calmly and take time for thinking creatively. On the other side, presenting it to people and receiving feedbacks from university coordinators and companies advisors, it came out that Intùiti can have other interesting applications: it is an appealing and unconventional way to introduce the topic of Creativity in schools and “break the ice” with professionals who are not used to open themselves up to sharing their ideas and suggestions.
In conclusion, we think Intùiti would be perfect for workshops and team sessions and we are working on well-structured lessons in which Intùiti could be the starting point for a wider discussion.

The project was founded in 2011. It took over one year for studying and development and then other 6 months for enhancement.
All the drawings are hand made and later digitalized for the industrial production.

Risks and challenges
Everything is ready: I have the deck and the booklet of tales. But this kind of cards need a really expensive production (at least 2,000 decks) that will last around 4 weeks: then I'll start to pack and ship like a horse in order to let you receive your decks within the middle of april.
And... it will be produced by an italian factory, so it will be 100% made in Italy!
For what regards the book about the complete study behind Intùiti, it's a work-in-progress but I'm sure I'll be able to finish it within March, so you will receive it as soon as possible.
