My name is Stephen Tully Dierks, and I am the editor/publisher/promoter of Pop Serial, a limited-edition art/literature magazine. The first issue featured lots of talented authors such as Tao Lin, Kendra Grant Malone, Zachary German, Brandon Scott Gorrell, and Joshua Cohen, and artists from around the world. The magazine was made in a D.I.Y., arts and crafts style due to my limited funds---glossy sheets of paper bound up with ribbon.
For the second issue, I'd like to present the short stories, poems, drawings, comics, and photos in nice perfect-bound books. I like visually appealing art objects, and hopefully you do, too. Also, I want the magazine to be more durable and nicer to hold and turn its pages.
The line-up for Issue Two features a lot of relatively well-known names from the online, "indie," loosely HTMLGIANT-affiliated literary scene, including Tao Lin, Noah Cicero, Sam Pink, Heather Christle, Daniel Bailey, Brandon Scott Gorrell, Ben Brooks, Kendra Grant Malone, Matthew Savoca, Audun Mortensen, Brandi Wells, Prathna Lor, Frank Hinton, Jordan Castro, Cassandra Troyan, Cody Troyan, Ana C., Brittany Wallace, Miles Ross, David Fishkind, Andrew James Weatherhead, Megan Boyle, Carrie Lorig, Feng Sun Chen, Brett Gallagher, Steve Roggenbuck et al.
Also, there's art by Aidan Koch, Elizabeth Arnold, Van Jazmin, Ryan Manning, and others.
I'm going to be ordering these perfect-bound books through a print-on-demand service called Book Mobile. I need to raise a couple thousand to do the print run I'd like, but I'm setting a more modest goal of $1,000 here on Kickstarter.
The price of the magazine is $10 (contributors get their copy for free), and I can guarantee that the first 100 people who donate $10 will receive a magazine. Beyond that, depending on the amount by which we exceed my goal, I will expand the print run. Currently I'm looking at a minimum 150-copy run. Everyone who donates more than $10 has the opportunity to win prizes, including books, personalized items, and other goodies.
