Legends of Rakasa: Fordra (Canceled)
Card based game inspired by monster hunting & crafting video games. Easy to learn/enjoy. Set rules but open enough to make it your own
Hello Kickstarters Everywhere!
We have canceled the funding of this project but will return in January 2015! Check out our update explaining our canceling and future relaunch.
This link will take you to the Legends of Rakasa game page. On the game page you can still access our print and play version, rulebook, and more. Once we relaunch, the same link will then take you to our new project. Thank you again for the the support! We will see you all back here on Kickstarter in January!
In the mean time, Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Festivus, Merry Christmas, Happy Boxing Day, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy New Year, and...as always, Happy Hunting!
The game is set in the Land of Rakasa. This chapter of the Legends of Rakasa is set at the beginning of the Life Crossing Festival which is the celebration of the renewal of life. During the Festival hunters strive to prove themselves worth of the title Master Hunter. This is done by defeating the furious dragons that roam the lands of Rakasa.
Players begin the game with generic Bone Equipment. Players equipment becomes stronger and more unique in stats and abilities as they battle monsters, collect spoils, and upgrade their equipment.
The Land of Rakasa is made by placing board tiles next to each other. Each tile represents either a village, road, or land. Every road and land has a deck of monsters that is shuffled and placed face-down on the tile as well as a deck of upgradable equipment that remains outside of the tiles. players move around the tiles drawing for the decks to battle monsters who give spoils that can be used to upgrade equipment.
Players can pick an objective from one of the four provided or create their own unique quests and challenges. Some of these objectives are competitive while others are cooperative. These objectives range from defeating dragons to collecting an array of spoils. Game time varies with each objective ranging from 25mins to 90mins.
The nice thing about Legends of Rakasa is that there is no set number of players. Adding additional lands increases player count. Established rules help to direct players on managing large group games.
If you happened to search for Legends of Rakasa you may have noticed that this is our third time launching. Trivatch believes that all great things come in threes and rightly so we have decided to celebrate this third launch by offering exclusive Kickstarter charm cards! We have come a very long ways since our first launch in January of this year and hope you will celebrate this moment with us!
Our first launch in January was originally for the entire Legends of Rakasa Series, which at the time we thought we would fund as one game. Since that launch in January we have attended over eight conventions and expos where we introduced and played the game hundreds of times. Through this experience we discovered that we had more material than what could fit in one game which now makes up the two base games (Fordra & Monsir), two high level expansions, and an alchemy expansion. This Kickstarter is now seeking to fund only one of those base games "Fordra Tales of the Ocean and Forest". The division is mainly for two reasons 1. learning curve of the game and 2. price of the game. There is a natural divide between the base games which focus on the crafting aspects of the game and the expansions of the game that focus heavily on the hunting and battling. Also, this allows us to produce the game at a much more efficient price making our funding goal much more realistic.
**Project video above includes clips of Fordra and other versions of the Legends of Rakasa Series. Gameplay video includes only Fordra game contents.**
Good things come in threes and so do the Vatcher boys.
We love games. Art, storytelling, math, and so many other elements are combined together to bring a game into existence. Games provide opportunities for people to have fantastic adventures, solve problems, compete, work together, laugh, build friendships, and have lots of fun! Crafting these opportunities for the world is our passion.
We also would like to thank Print Ninja. They have been with us from the beginning and are one of the easiest and best printing companies we have ever worked with. They have provide some of he best customer service to us addressing our questions immediately, providing numerous quotes when we adjusted the game, and samples of their services. It is because of this that we have comfortable and confident that Legends of Rakasa will succeed!
Risks and challenges
Legends of Rakasa is complete. We have spent the last two years developing, balancing, and play testing the game. As you can see in the game content image all parts and components are present. There are 2 major challenges moving forward: Printing and Shipping.
We are confident and excited to be working with the printing company we have decided to go with. this is not our first time working with a printing company. We have developed multiple prototypes of the game and had them professional printed. We are already in the process of preparing the game for printing as we are positive this campaign will fund and want to ensure we can deliver the game asap to our backers
Shipping logistics can be a challenge, this is mainly the reason why we have decided to keep the rewards to the US and Canda. As much as we would love to offer the game to our friends abroad, we don't want to over extend ourselves by over promising. Don't worry we have not forgotten about you and have things planned for the future. This also is not our first time shipping things but previous experience is on a smaller scale.
We are confident in ourselves as game designers that we will deliver Legends of Rakasa: Fordra so you too can join in the hunt!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
