PERHAPS NOW, MORE THAN EVER, OUR WORLD COULD BENEFIT FROM LOVING KINDNESS AND COMPASSION.
A TIMELESS STORY THAT HAS ALREADY TOUCHED MILLIONS
Perhaps you’re too young to know or maybe you have not heard of Jonathan Livingston Seagull before. In this case, you're in for a treat!
Richard Bach’s fourth novel spent almost two years on the New York Times Best Seller list and went on to become a global best seller, touching the lives of millions everywhere. Jonathan Livingston Seagull has been published in over fifty languages and remains in print around the world. The "crazy little seagull" named Jonathan speaks a universal language with his appeal to harness and exceed our imagined potential and soar to loftier plains of courage, personal accountability, and reaffirmation in the power of self-determination.
A touchstone to multiple generations, Jonathan Livingston Seagull stands as a source of motivation and transcendence in the lives of countless people. Jonathan's optimism and encouragement to embrace the power of spiritual and personal freedoms has guided readers through difficult challenges and numerous obstacles. Jonathan Livingston Seagull is an indwelling of inspiration and hope.
Finding your own inspiration in Jonathan's story is easy! You will be rewarded with the affirmation of striving for excellence in your daily life as its own reward, and when you abandon the negative, self-defeating thoughts of limitation you, too, will experience powerful, positive change.
With a devoted audience numbering in the millions across the world, Jonathan Livingston Seagull is in a prime position for a metamorphosis in the digital online marketplace and into the hearts of new readers everywhere. Since the message of Jonathan Livingston Seagull has unlimited potential for generations to come, we have developed a powerful and engaging new way to tell the story and deliver it almost everywhere, thanks to recent developments in digital technology. We plan to introduce an Interactive Audio Book of Jonathan Livingston Seagull for mobile devices. We will distribute the work in Four Parts, one part at a time and this fundraising segment is for Part One only.
Please don't keep the project a secret! Help us celebrate the evolution of Richard Bach's timeless classic Jonathan Livingston Seagull as we move into an enlightened new age of storytelling.
Richard Bach facilitated the re-release of Jonathan Livingston Seagull as an Interactive Audiobook App. Our work will be enjoyed by many but especially today's children, who are drawn to electronic devices such as smart phones, iPads, and tablets.
Richard speaks to Jonathan Seagull’s continuing relevance in modern times:
“Is this story relevant to the modern times, to the years beyond 2017? Of course not. Who needs, in these days, a story about being thrown out of a society because our ideas, our inventions, our way of thinking doesn't match with conventional standards?
Who cares if a few people live their own ideas, and bring them back once again for us to try if we might like them now. Who needs carriages without horses to pull them, machines who will lift us into the sky, inventions that will take us to the moon and other planets?
Certainly no one cares about spiritual ideas, ones that suggest we're already perfect expressions of perfect love, no matter that these expressions don't appear to our eyes. That holding these ideas regardless of appearances, seems to make them true.
No matter its crazy ideas, why does this book keep selling thousands of copies every year? Are there that many crazy people living among us today?”
We are confident to recast the Jonathan Livingston Seagull story in a new light and share this classic with a young generation by delivering an exciting new Interactive Audio Book App for mobile devices.
Unlike a traditional book or an e-book, an interactive audio book doesn't rely on written text, as the story is delivered with spoken word. And unlike a conventional audio book, our interactive book immerses a reader into a world of highly detailed and colorful delights. Unlike many existing interactive books for mobile devices which read as flat, this App is produced in a 3D-like style which delivers a more engaging experience, similar to watching a cartoon.
Each episode takes the reader on an adventure with Jonathan from Part One of the original book. A reader participates in the story by interacting with characters and the environment by tapping, swiping, or drawing on the screen.
Jumping dolphins, fish, shooting stars, and echoing ripples of water are among many beautiful and playful interactions with the environment.
The market is saturated with eBooks, interactive books, and games to a point that parents have become stressed and overwhelmed, and as a result limit the time children spend with mobile devices. We hope that Jonathan Livingston Seagull will be among a few approved applications that parents will encourage their children to interact with and, at the same time, feel good knowing that their kids are in a learning environment imbued with kindness, hope, and altruism. We hope the kids will enjoy the humor and kindness in the story and become engaged with both the characters and the lessons.
Richard Bach Loves This App! Here are his own words: “Instead of imagining, we and our children can see Jonathan's flight under our eyes, on the very pages of spoken words. We can become seagulls ourselves, turning, soaring, even flying upside down, whenever we wish! Kind Heart Production’s App is a modern vision of the forever principles of the book. This is a perfect expression of enlightened entertainment!”
JOIN THE FLOCK TO BECOME PART OF THIS STORY!
Please don't keep us a secret! Join our flock and help us celebrate the evolution of Richard Bach's classic Jonathan Livingston Seagull. "Open To All Members" has been the JLS motto for almost fifty years. Its spirit is open to anyone who believes. The group vision centers on an individual's aspiration to do more, climb higher, see beyond a herd mentality, and to be OK with being different. Strive for perfection, while understanding that "PERFECT SPEED” means already being there. To accept and celebrate being an outcast for holding true to one’s core beliefs.
“The readers of Jonathan Livingston Seagull are not a community. They're a family.
They're joined by their love of the principles in this story. I have thousands of examples of this in letters and in the last few years in the rain of emails sent by those who believe as I do – there's something much more powerful than the latest cars or the latest airplanes, or the ideas which separate us.
Tell another reader of this book that you've been touched by the truth on its pages, and all at once we're welcome to talk with them, to meet with them, to become their friends.
That may be true for other books, too, yet year after year a sense of family has been extended to many readers of Jonathan Seagull.”
Yes, the JLS Family exists! We are a global community tens of millions strong, related by shared values and common goals. Though Jonathan's message means special things to each person, anyone who has read the short novel might share their own "Jonathan Livingston Seagull Story” with us, as hundreds of visitors have submitted their own stories to be published at the Jonathan Livingston Seagull website. Visit the site, read a few of the stories, and you’ll feel and understand the strong sense of community we’ve described.
Becuase of a highly personal connection to Jonathan, those who embrace the story already share a deeply soulful connection all over the world. Given the complexities in a heavily saturated, over committed, overstimulated, social media entrenched lifestyle, a kinder connection will be welcomed as it brings a little more light to each of us. So, yes, take heart: You are not alone.
The project is currently about 25% completed. Every scene of Part One is finalized, every character has been modeled, most of the scenes have been animated, and some interactions have been introduced. The success of this campaign will allow us to develop interactions within each scene (about twenty in total) before moving to a testing phase.
Should this crowdfunding campaign surpass our initial goal, we will include even more highly detailed and exciting engagements, interactions, and storytelling!
YOUR FREEDOM TO CHOOSE. . .
Readers of Jonathan Livingston Seagull share a common belief that one is free to make decisions and choose personal goals. JLS readers also embrace the innate desire to excel in their endeavors and persevere until success is achieved. JLS readers are a family that strives to live a life based on honor, truth and love.
The choice to join our Kickstarter campaign is compelling because of the unifying vision which includes each person in the community as a “doer,” and a mover and shaker. The Seagull spirit already has the support of so many people who were influenced by the book and now, for the first time in decades, these people and so many more can become part of the next chapter as well as committed to make a better world.
Join us in sharing timeless values with a new generation. Let’s elevate the spirit of Jonathan Livingston Seagull using today’s latest technology to offer our children a fun and beautiful learning environment imbued with kindness, hope, and altruism. Coming together in hope and possibility, we will also cast golden light onto society and a segment of the entertainment industry, which could so benefit from our inspiration and encouragement.
