What It's About:
Heather Stone lives in fear of repeating the past, yet she continues doing the one thing that could trigger another disaster. The illegal Bibles she smuggles are the lifeblood of the underground church, but when the police trace a Bible to her house, Heather’s world begins to crumble. Her father’s life hangs in the balance. No one with the power to help knows or cares. If she tries to save him, she could lead her friends to their deaths. If she does nothing, her father’s fate is certain. Can she evade a hostile police force and win public sympathy before it’s too late?
Fiction With A Mission:
Finding quality, God-honoring stories is growing harder and harder in today's market. In an article titled Changing the Face of Literature, Ilana Reimer stated, "It is time to alter the focus of books from immorality and sin to novels that are light-filled, pure, and lovely in the eyes of God." That's my vision. I want to write stories that breathe life into topics like the persecuted church, the global orphan crisis, and human trafficking without becoming preachy. Hopefully, Counted Worthy will be the first of many such stories.
Countless stories entertain but are quickly forgotten because entertainment is their only purpose. They are the junk food of the literary world. Other stories dig deeper. Without loosing the savor and attraction of entertainment, they also embrace a bigger purpose. Such stories are not simply "safe" to read, they leave the reader with a feeling of entering something bigger than themselves. These stories are not forgotten after they are finished. My goal is to produce books that fit into this category.
Support Something Bigger:
The projected release date for Counted Worthy is November 3rd. I selected this particular date because November 3rd is the day after the International Day of Prayer for the persecuted church. Counted Worthy is about a young woman who risks everything for her faith. I hope her story will help readers identify with the persecuted Christians in our world today.
In keeping with this goal, I would like to donate 10% of the net earnings from Counted Worthy to Open Doors or a similar ministry. This part of the project is still in the planning stages, but Lord willing the publication of this book will help support the persecuted church.
You may be wondering how Kickstarter works and how you're supposed to use it to support this vision. The goal of this campaign is to raise $1,000. You can see a breakdown of the budget below. This money will fund the editing, design, and production of Counted Worthy.
Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing fundraiser. If the $1,000 goal is not reached in pledges, no money changes hands. You won't be charged for the amount you pledged, and I won't send out any rewards. If the full $1,000 is pledged, you will be charged and you'll receive whatever reward you were promised. (Scroll up and look at the right side bar to see the rewards.)
If you have any questions, there's a place to ask them below.
You can reserve a copy of Counted Worthy by choosing it from the list of rewards. There are a limited number of signed paperbacks available, so don't hesitate! (Again, scroll up and view the right side bar to pick your pledge and award.)
Help Out Even More:
If you'd like to do even more to help you're awesome! ;) Thank you! Here are some ideas that go beyond pledging to the Kickstarter project.
Thanks for your support of this project!
Risks and challenges
The editing process is filled with interesting surprises! If the quality of the book comes into question, there's always a chance the process could take a little longer than expected. I will do my very best to stick to the publication schedule, and not keep you waiting any longer than expected.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
