The Dark Man
The Dark Man, a student short film written and directed by Tim Stevens, explores the metaphysical relationship between time and love. As the second hand ticks ever onward, Daniel sees the life he made for himself with his wife slipping from his grasp. From the shadows of Daniel’s ruin, a black figure, a Dark Man, bearing an enigmatic timepiece emerges.
We are a student film crew from University of North Texas in Denton, TX. The Dark Man is one of eight films produced for the Advanced Film Production class as a part of the UNT Radio, Television, and Film undergraduate degree. We are a group of talented and highly motivated filmmakers seeking to push the boundary on filmmaking in the digital era. We are excited to be a part of the first set of films produced at UNT entirely on the Red Scarlet Digital Cinema camera at a breathtaking 4K resolution.
Why we need your help
While much of the equipment needed to the produce the film will be provided by the university, filmmaking remains a costly endeavor. Your donation to the Dark Man will provide food for our cast and crew, pay for necessary rentals, cover location fees, and pay expensive festival entry fees once the film is completed. By donating, you will be a part of the magic of storytelling and aid in the realization of dreams.
How else can you help?
We need actors, refreshments, meals, and locations for the film. Sponsoring our film with food, locations, or other amenities does more than just support local cinema. Sponsors will see their name illuminated on the silver screen with a special thanks for their support.

Risks and challenges
As a student film, funding is one of the harder setbacks we will face, but beyond that, locations may prove fickle, as not many cemeteries are keen to let a film crew (even one as small as ours) loose among their headstones. Apart from the cemetery, securing a house and a field may prove challenging only in securing permits, but as we're jumping on that three months out, we should be able to get location contracts signed well before the shoot.
Our film is one of several within the Advanced Film class (taught by accomplished filmmaker Eugene Martin). Gear will be provided, however some additional rentals will be required such generators, jib arms, among other things.
Our entire production staff was selected for this film based on merit, vision, and passion. We have each completed short films in other production classes and both writer/Director Tim Stevens and Producer Sarah Wagoner have worked on television productions previously.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
