10. FOSSIL FUEL ADDICTION & RULE OF HOLES. Inertia & Top down political pressure mean we continue to invest in Fossil Fuel industry/ infrastructure. Without outside pressure, the same thing will go on.

9. IT’S TIME NOW. Carbon Emissions continue to concentrate in the atmosphere, changing the climate – glaciers melting, sea levels rising, more extreme storms - so warming continues even after we quit Fossil Fuels.  

8. POLITICS. Top down politics to get global agreement are too slow to help – in time to matter – and too easy to undo – see recent G7 discord on Paris Agreement, Trump – we can’t put all of our eggs in this one basket.  

7. FAR & FAST. Current approaches aren’t enough. We need a miracle to transform our approach to energy. We need new ways to avoid current roadblocks and move ahead. We need a new set of rules & a new roadmap. 

6. STANDARD APPROACH. Energy markets are fragmented. We don't have economies of scale like we had with the internet. A common language and structure for clean electricity worldwide would let local markets unite. 

5.DECENTRALIZATION. The one thing we haven’t tried yet is to organize for new clean electricity solutions and help the world’s energy consumers make deliberate changes. We need new approaches that work.  

4. SOCIAL NETWORKS. The modern way to drive markets, innovation, novelty & value is with Social Networks, Platforms, & Apps, which provide a roadmap and Best Practices; we need to get busy & execute with urgency.  

3. DATA, DATA, DATA. Powerful tools like Big Data, Cloud, Bitcoin AI & IOT need a framework & context to engage the $1T global market. With digitization of our challenges & approaches, we can use these new tools.  

2. DIFFICULT DECISIONS. With all these affordable Personal Energy tools & solutions, how do I decide what works best for me? Our network makes it easy for the consumer to decide, plan and set goals.

We’re trapped in what’s called a Vicious Cycle. Our various perspectives on Climate Change - Denial, Unfounded Hope, Delay, Disempowerment, Delusion - fit the definition of Crazy, “to keep doing the same thing while expecting different results," In the end, we’re just not very good at quitting fossil fuels - its very difficult to unwind the foundation of 150 years of progress by moving away from fossil fuels in the next 30. It even sounds impossible. So the coal, oil and gas keep burning; CO2 keeps gathering in the atmosphere, airborne concentrations keep going up, and all that keeps making the world warmer. But we have to turn around and start down this difficult path, regardless of how overwhelming it all seems.

 Houston, We have a Problem 

The crazy stops when one acknowledges Reality, and that is "We have a Big Problem with no ready solution!" The continuing advance of Global Warming, and the failure to retire Fossil Fuels and adopt clean energy alternatives in time, put our our species on the path to distress at best, oblivion at worst - and nobody at the top seems able to pull us out of this vicious cycle! The evidence is plain: glaciers are melting and aerial concentrations of CO2 keep rising - my own lifetime tracks the rise from 310 to 404 ppm. You have to go back more than 100 centuries to see a rise this fast. We have front row seats to something awesome ... and terrible.

 In a Nutshell: It’s Time 

It’s time for a new approach to grow the market to pick up the pace of human adaptation to stop this tragedy before it goes any further. As a market services company, our primary strategy is a consumer platform – a social network and PROFILE tool - to enable easier consumer decisions on new Personal Energy products/services. Subscriber Acquisition
Every new multi-sided platform like PersonalEnergy.me faces the "chicken and egg problem" - the need to get subscribers on board, in sufficient numbers and types to attract vendors, merchants and other participants to make it economically viable. Our biggest risk in this venture is attracting those subscribers.

Plan Execution
With a well designed tool, execution of the plan becomes the key risk/challenge. Fortunately, new technologies and the data feedback loops of highly adaptable digital platforms make this approach ideally suited to the imperative of accelerating change required by global warming.

Risk Mitigation Plan
We will focus on initial subscriber attraction in key progressive markets like Austin, Boulder, San Francisco, NYC, Boston, Toronto and Vancouver. We'll move on to towns and cities with similar profiles, applying our lessons learned. Soon, we’ll branch out to include early adopters in the developed economies of South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Then we’ll reach out to the Energy Poor in China, India, Africa and throughout the Southern Hemisphere. This is a global market plan. And throughout, we’ll recruit commercial, corporate, government and institutional partners to help us grow our subscriber base.

Keeping Things Simple
We are tasked with taking a complex and - let's admit it - often boring topic and breaking it down into its essentials, while keeping our audience motivated and engaged. We believe a key reason we haven’t gone faster in this market shift is the cost and complexity of these new solutions, and the immature marketplace. There has been no catalyst to date like the iPhone to show us the way. This is a marketing challenge that we feel well equipped to address based on our career experience and resources.

Persistence in the Face of Adversity
Another risk is maintaining momentum as the movement grows, keeping it fresh, as loss of personal drive and attention can be expected during the long journeys of personal change that our subscribers will undergo, exacerbated by the push back from entrenched incumbents and those who feel threatened by such fundamental changes. This path will not be easy. We count on the community aspect of this endeavor to lift our Subscribers spirits when they flag.

Sustaining Revenue
Finally, this business model must generate revenue to be sustaining. While most individual participation on the platform will be subsidized (free), we’ll get revenue from selling paid platform participants access to the platform and from creating a better understanding of the emerging Personal Energy market with new market data and services. These concepts are still a big leap for companies and individuals who’ve never known another way to look at energy. It will no doubt take time to generate sufficient revenue and external fund-raising will need to continue as we grow.
