Kado Update: Status

Dear backers,  

We promised to update as progress is being made and though we shared with you what we could, we’ve been unable to comment, until today, on a major matter that delays our work.  

A specific individual claimed Kado was infringing his US patents and has filed a patent infringement lawsuit in Israel against Kado. Kado has filed a motion with the Israeli Court to dismiss the lawsuit, as it has no legal grounds.
Furthermore, this individual used this public platform and raised some offensive and negative allegations against Kado and its activities. 

An event of this kind can have a crucial impact on any small start-up activity and planning. For us, this issue required our immediate attention and demanded we allocate an important part of our limited resources to solve it.  

In view of the false information that this individual spread, and after carefully looking into all the relevant details, Kado has filed a defamation lawsuit against this individual. In that lawsuit, Kado claimed, inter alia, that this individual’s publications were done in bad faith and with the sole intention of harming Kado’s activities.
As was also claimed in the lawsuit, this individual’s actions caused severe damages to Kado’s reputation, credibility and prestige and presented Kado in a negative light.

Consulted by our lawyers not to discuss the matter here, we were limited in our ability to share with you this information.  

We believe in Kado’s “can do” spirit and in our products. Even though not all issues regarding this matter have been finalized yet, we believe that it was important to bring this matter to your attention.
We will pursue our rights to supply our products to you and all other Kado supporters around the world, and will bring you more updates as soon as possible.

      Feels like this one might be a flop. No update in months. Legal trouble with patrnt infringement is no joke, but these are the risks one takes when backing on crowdfunding websites. As for the people asking for a refund, it's highly unlikely that would happen. Once a project is successful funded and the company has received the funds from the backers that money isn't going to come back.

      I said I am sorry for your trouble but please refund money. I would appreciate some words after your last message on January 2018. I would appreciate to have an update and to know if there is some percentage to have the product I have supported.
      Silence is not a good way or a strategy to move on. Many thanks and so sorry for your troubles

      How I can believe this is the real situation after 2 year?

      So how i can believe that you have a real solid product and the "only" problem is a legal issue with an USA patent ?

      This is my second ( and last ) project i have intention to support on kickstarter.

      Don't exactly know if I'm a sucker, optimist, or typical kickstarter super backer. I've backed four phone charger projects. One worked well for a few months, another was doa. requests for a fix meet with silence. Another was a steady stream of stated problems and excuses until the makers vanished. And now Kado. I understand that the world s rife with material setbacks and predators prowling for marks. But at this point I think pessimism is setting in and I have diminishing faith in Tech start ups

      I feel really bad for your situation, but I think every backer here deserves a refund, and once you fix all your legal and technical issues, then you can start up the campaign again, and we'll be more than willing to back you again, but now we just lost faith and ask you for our money back.

      So I understand being apprehensive about talking about the case however what happens if this gets drawn out for years obviously you can't ship a product where (even if there's a mild chance) you are infringing on patens so what's gonna happen to our money that was meant to create kado is it going to go towards lawyer costs to defend your right to make the product in the first place I understand patent trolls may attempt to take advantage of your success however the 100% radio silence is INEXCUSABLE on to your backers there's no need to talk about things you can't talk about HOWEVER talk about things you can like finding manufacturers if you truly feel that your parents is as air tight as you claim there should be nothing stopping you from shopping around even if you can't produce anything yet as a long time backer of many a starter my concerns where raised when you said you didn't have a manufacturer now my concerns are very very high hoping my concerns are just that and don't turn out to be true but sadly that's part of KICKSTARTER sometimes

      So I assume you're going to start issuing refunds? You are no closer to launching the product now then you were during the campaign. Don't rip people off, its bad karma.
