Kado Update - what we’ve been doing so far #3
We know it's been a while and want to updated you on the latest developments we had with our charger.
As mentioned on our last update, we ran into some delay due to the late arrival of a key technological component. We initially assessed the delay as a matter of a couple of weeks. More recently, we found we need to solve another major issue, this time regarding the charger's casing material.
As you may know the aluminum casing of our prototype allowed us to reach the size and features we published. As we progressed we found that from a certification perspective we're required to use specific materials, much more expensive than planned, that would meet all the safety regulations.
This means we're currently looking for a new solution that would:
a) enable us to keep the slimness of Kado and its overall look and feel,
b) help us maintain the strength of our product,
c) will have the smallest impact on our production cost,
d) pass certification with flying colors,
e) will take as less time as possible to bring to production.
Yes, this means that unfortunately like many other Kickstarter projects ours too sees more delay. We are trying as much as we can to minimize the wait time, which we estimate at three more months and deeply apologize for this.
Technologically we are on track and it is important for us to share that currently no other aspects are holding us back.
We will inform you as we move forward and are eager to give you good news, knowing that you too await them.
You trusted us to provide you the thinnest charger ever and this is what we intend to do.
