About this project
"Cascade Giants" is a powerful visual journey of exploration & beauty through the North Cascade mountain range in a search for the last of the remaining Grizzlies."
What's the film about? --
The "Cascade Giants" film will take the viewer on a stunning visual journey into the deepest and most remote parts of the North Cascades National Park on a quest to document & capture the first ever HD video footage of these amazing animals in this area.
Federal officials suspect there may be up to 20 grizzlies residing in the 10,000-square-mile area around the park. It is one of six recovery areas, including Glacier and Yellowstone, where the government is trying to restore bear populations decimated by hunters and trappers during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Our goal is simple --
In the last 41 years only one photograph has been taken of these majestic animals in the North Cascade National Park. We plan to change that this summer simply by doing a lot, of not so simple hiking into some of the most remote parts of this area & setting up camp.
We plan on traveling over 800 miles on foot in the next 6 months through some of the most rugged terrain in the North Cascade National Park and on the Pacific Crest Trail in search of these elusive creatures.
We will be setting up several remote sensored camera's in these areas to help us document when we are not there physically.
With a bit of luck, some patience, & a lot of perseverance, We expect before the start of winter to achieve our goal of documenting the last of these great animals in the North Cascades Wilderness.
How can you help? --
We’ve done it all on our own so far, we have already hiked over 600 miles in the last 12 months. Filming and documenting the beauty of the North Cascades along the way while narrowing down the areas where we think we will be the most successful in achieving our goal.
However, we can no longer cover on our own the expenses to complete this project and that is why we are reaching out to you today. We need your help to get the film finished, into festivals and out to the world.
Your Kickstarter support shows you care about this project, and that there’s a community interested in a film about these amazing animals and the beautiful wilderness they live in. So we ask you to pledge your support, pick up some great rewards and pass on our project to your wilderness exploring, adventure-seeking, eco friendly, tree hugging, nature loving friends. And anyone else you think would like this film.
What are we planning to do with your hard earned cash?
While we have already shot for over a year and have dozens of hours of footage. And although we have seen lots of critters, beautiful vistas, and lush rain forests, we have yet to capture any footage of an actual North Cascades Grizzly, which to date has still eluded us.
Through this KICKSTARTER we hope to finance some things like gas to get us out into the wilderness and food to fill our bellies while on the hunt.
Some of the cash will go towards the purchase of new remote wildlife cameras to help us get the best footage possible even when we are not in the wilderness.
Most of your contributions will help us take all the footage that we've shot and turn it into the finished film. It will directly go towards things like: Post Production, Editing, Motion Graphics, Music, Color Correction, Festival, Marketing, Publicity, & of course your rewards
We really want you to be a part of this project and to that end we have created some amazing rewards for all levels of contribution. Please check out our rewards, get the one that works best for your budget & together we can make "Cascade Giants" a reality.
Thank you for the support. SeattleMediaHouse.com

Risks and challenges
The main risk of this project could possibly be that we don't find any Grizzly Bears.
The bears are out there somewhere. They are not some mythical beast like the Sasquatch and with a bit of luck, some patience, & a lot of perseverance, we should be able to document & capture stunning images and video of the last of these great animals in the North Cascades Wilderness before they go back into hibernation this next winter or possibly extinction.
Some people might be concern is that the film may not be completed.
We have already hiked over 600 miles and filmed for the last year on this project. We are dedicated to completing this film & documenting history by capturing footage of possibly the last North Cascade grizzlies.
By raising funding now, it gives us plenty of time to prepare for the final summer and fall filming seasons of this project when the bears will be active.
We are confident in the talent of our crew and of our producers & videographers. We know that with their years of film experience and creative talent that this project will be completed.
Our goal is a powerful visual journey of exploration & beauty that lets you truly appreciate and experience the magnificence of the North Cascades.
Thank you for the support, & hopefully we will see you in the mountains.
