About this project
Hi, my name is Garrett Adderley. I live in Olympia, WA but I have lived all over the United States. I'm a professional tattooist and comic book artist, and over the last few years I've worked as a penciller on a number of books for indie publisher Terminal Press. Along the way I've also been developing my own book: a barbarian fantasy comic called Brom Kah.
Brom Kah isn't a book with obvious heroes and villains, or the kind of clear story arc that you might expect from a fantasy. It's a story about a world. Brom himself isn't so much a barbarian in the Conan or Kull tradition as he is a pure force of nature, changing and complicating the universe in which he lives. Brom Kah is a book that takes all fun creepy weirdness of classic pulp written decades ago, and wraps it up in scary existential weirdness for a readers now.
If this Kickstarter campaign is successful, it will fund a print run and
promotional campaign for Brom Kah Collected Stories, a book assembling
both my best work, as well as stories from a team of writers and artists
who have explored Brom's world with me. This includes creators from
Marvel Comics, Image Comics, Heavy Metal Magazine and the fine arts
world. Brom Kah Collected Stories will also be the first publication
released from my own independent press, Corpsegarden Studios. It will
also fund a print run for Stefano Cardoselli's Walk, plus all of
the incentives that you will be getting like the exclusive toys, prints,
and other great items. If we go beyond and above our goal here at
Kickstarter then the extra donations will go towards the production of
the Brom Kah graphic novel that Iam currently working on.
As you look through the project, I hope you'll see I'm paying just as much attention to the design of the book itself as the content inside it. This is about evoking something special in every person who reads it. It's the first toy you ever convinced your mother to buy for you at Kmart. It's the first album you bought with your own money that you couldn't play in front of your parents. It's your first tattoo. It's the first time you kissed someone you were scared of. It's those sleepless nights with a good book while the world screams outside.
I make art to remind myself I'm alive, and it's with that in mind that I hope to have the chance to share the art that excites me most with all of you
The Psychobilly band Hellfreaks from Hungary (Budapest) is writing and producing a 4 song EP soundtrack for the epic barbarian comic Brom Kah.
Shakey Sue leads her spook-tacular band with raw and poisonous vocals that will make you come back and beg for more and more, and with her fiendish friends Yoda Surfer (Guitar), Kevin Crime (Upright Bass) and Peter Pain (drums) they will raise the dead with solid and powerful tunes that you won't be able to find anywhere else.
Lets not forget Stefano Cardoselli's comic Walk for Corpsegarden Studios that you will be receiving. A book about the future. Violent crime has increased by 400%. Prisons are operating well beyond capacity, and the central government can no longer afford to build any new correctional facilities. Convicted felons roam the streets, and police are unable to maintain law and
order. Enter “The Tower of Justice”.
It is the most popular television show of all-time, captivating a viewing audience in the hundreds of millions, and generating add revenue that dwarfs any other broadcast in history. A prisoner entering the Tower has but one goal: ascend each grueling level and reach the top to earn his freedom.
Every man for himself. Anything goes. You fight, you live, you go free. You fail, you die. Either way, the world is watching.
Now, a new prisoner is about to play the game: the man called “Garrote”. A former professional wrestler who will stop at nothing to secure his freedom, he is no stranger to fame…or to violence.
The stage is set. The cameras are hot. The audience is tuning in. Witness the highest-rated bloodbath in history.
