you know, getting the GK rights would be as simple as placing the head of a dead horse in the bed of Activision's CEO... I'm just saying....
Just the sound of you guys talking about making a GK game together makes me flip out with excitement. Even if it never happens (Praying to the gaming gods that it will) it would be really special to have them in some other project.
Lol these are great. Dean is hilarious! Good to see everyone's doing well.
Yes! make FMV come back! =)
Sorry, "or", not "of".
First GK was 2D, second one FMV, thrid one 3D. Gabriel Knight 4 should be 2.5D, Isometric of First Person.
Thank you Dean, Peter, Will and Jane, i hope we could hear from you guys again very soon! Wonderful :)!!
Awesome! And the fact that none of the guys seemed reluctant to hook up with Jane again, means that we can still hope to hear -or better- see something from them again! :-)
I don't know if I would want another FMV Gabriel Knight game (loved GK2 though) but I'd certainly love to see Jane make another FMV game using a new IP. It's just that I really enjoyed how the GK series always tried a new look with each game and I wouldn't want that to stop if the series came back.
this was a great listen, thanks so much! you shouldnt have recorded it with a dolphin in the room though
Wow! Thank you for this!
Very nice I enjoyed listening to the reunion and hopefully see some new things on the way.
Fantastic, thank you Jane for organizing it! Great to see the behind the scenes pictures too :)
Fingers crossed for the $400,000!
This is terrific! I really hope things work out so Dean and Peter have roles in Moebius, and put me down as a fan in favor of trying to revive GK as an FMV or otherwise trying to do another FMV project in the future. The Tex Murphy guys are convinced they can pull it off with a much lower budget than in the 90's so it seems to be do-able.
If the Tex Murphy kickstarter is successful the new Tex Murphy game will be FMV.
It's a shame though about GK and FMV. I would love to see another GK FMV so much.
But... I guess either one of these things happening at all would be a miracle already.
This was so awesome.
Funny they would talk so much about the homoerotic angle. Because that's exactly what I felt like when I was playing it. "Wait - isn't Gabriel straight? Although... that may explain why there isn't more happening with Grace." ;-)
Also really interesting to hear them talk about the hunt club that much. For me, it was probably what I disliked the most about the game. But that may be because I've grown up in that part of the world and I hate all that traditional hunting stuff, pubs and so on with a passion. THE breeding ground for ignorance and primitivity in that part of the world (well... I guess just like probably really any small, traditional taverns all around the world). If for some reason you would want to see an "real-life Nazi" in Germany, checking out such places would be your best bet. I especially loved the one time an owner of such a nice place told me that all the Turks should be gassed...
Thank you Jane, Will, Dean and Peter for taking the time to record this for us to listen to! It sounds like you all had a memorable time while creating the game, and I loved hearing your thoughts about how well the game had held up through time, thoughts om FMV games as a genre and especially what your lasting impressions from the characters were. This was very enjoyable and if you guys do manage to have a reunion, please post a picture for us all to see! ;)
@Randy - Thanks for adding your recollections to this! You and everyone else involved did great work, as is clear from the ongoing passion of us fans.
Hi, guys. Fun reminiscing. Regarding the horses, we shot the barn interior with Dean and Peter in a real barn located not far from Oakhurst, so none of that was blue screen. The carriage and its horses were shot on a ranch in the Central Valley, if I recall correctly. We composited in the actors using blue foam core and blue platforms in the studio. It turned out great, but in the studio, it was actors sitting atop a rickety pile of blue boxes. It was a challenge to get everything to line up properly. GKII was an incredible opportunity for a videographer who loves lighting, and a good challenge. And every day the studio was filled with the most wonderful and talented people. Great experience. Thanks, Jane, and best of luck with your new project. ~Randy
That was just great! Made my day. :)
Lot of fun to hear you, thank you Jane, Dean, Peter and Will.
Peter Lucas was awesome in GK2.
And here's the letter Von Glower wrote to Gabriel that they talk about in part 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch…
FMV games seem to be a love/hate type of game. I'm one of those that LOVE them ;)
Actually there's a new FMV game in the Kickstarter right now, Tex Murphy is making a come back. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/texmurphy/tex-murphy-project-fedora
And a very nice conversation.
re. Jane's cameo, someone said that this is it: http://www.youtube.com/watch…
Please do the FMV's :)
I enjoy(ed) that very much :)
@Doug, yes there is. However, I have not done this manually. I re-purchased the games from GOG.com and they come already packaged in DOSbox and ready to run on newer systems. I simply ran a single file and then started to play the game on a Windows 7, 64bit gaming computer. If you don't want to buy them (less than $10 each, then you may need to search for settings specific to this game and DOSbox).
Now, where's Part 3?? :)
Thanks. This was fun to watch. It is possible to get the original DOS version to work on modern machines using programs like DOSbox. I played it again a few years ago. One of my favorite games ever.
The clicking sounds like Gabriel writing a letter to grace lol.

I want to give extra props to Luke from Just Press Start (http://www.justpressstart.net) - out of the goodness of his heart, he spent a few hours cleaning up the audio, and it's much appreciated! (There is an intermittent clicking noise that unfortunately couldn't be removed, though. Adds to the ambiance.)
Question: now that I see "Xavier" in some of the scenes, was the actor at least a nice guy? I swear I wanted to punch him in the game, lol
Amazing, thank you so much for sharing this with us Jane. =)
Wouldn't it be cool to 24h till the end of the deadline they announced mystery game x was Gabriel Knight 4? I bet all pledges would double or triple...
@Nico Sels, there's a Facebook like button at the top for the update, and you can like the video on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch…
Thanks for arranging this and posting it, Jane. I enjoyed listening to it.
Thanks you Jane! From what I read there is a way to increase your upload limit on youtube by verifying your account with a mobile phone. There should be an increase limit button somewhere. Then you can upload up to 12 hours on one video I think..
Wooow, thanks Jane!!!
It was really a great pleasure to hear you four talking and joking around. I still have goose bumps just thinking about the possibility to get all of you together for another GK. Thanks a lot and looking forward to the 2nd part. :)
Fantastic! Thank you!
I wish there was a 'like' button here ;-)
What Alex said.
Thank you Jane for all the work you've put in this campaign.
It was an amazing pleasure and honor to be a part of this.
And the best is yet to come.
Seriously, you and Robert are great and you deserve each and every penny you've raised and more.
