Mixed climbing, especially sport mixed climbing, has been rapidly changing. Climbers are stronger than ever, and new standards of excellence have been set. Over the past 10 years a few women in North America have put their mark on mixed climbing history. This is a movie about each one of these modern pioneers. Each woman in the film has raised the bar in women’s mixed climbing. Hear the story of how each of these women made their place in history. We want to share how Jen Olson, Sarah Hueniken, Dawn Glanc, and Kendra Stritch have navigated and interpreted this unique art of mixed climbing. These badass females have shaped the ambitions and dreams of up and coming climbers such as Katie Bono and Anna Pfaff.
Why Donate: Climbing is a male dominated sport. Coverage and conversation of mixed climbing especially has been focused on a few strong males athletes. Unbeknown to most of the world is a small group of strong determined women who climb with grace and precision with their crampons and tools. The macho vibe was no deterrent for these women to break the mold of the “average” climber. The drive and discipline of each woman is derived from a different place, but their focus on excellence is shared.
To share the inspiring stories of women who never let their gender dictate their goals we will need to raise $10,000. We ask you to help tell the story by donating today.
Risks and challenges
We hope to begin working on capturing the stories of our athletes during their climbing season beginning December 10, 2015 at the Bozeman Ice Festival and continuing on with production throughout January - March 2016. Our plans include trips to Camore, Vail, and Ouray.
Harsh weather, injuries, and financial setbacks are all a possibility - but with plans in place to push through these potential hurdles we are certain to have a finished film by late Spring 2016.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
