Go! will be a short film that we want to inspire a wide range of people:
Dare we push ourselves past our comfort zone to achieve something greater?
Using Vertical Dance as our medium (think harnesses, ropes and being suspended off walls), we will show how dedication, struggle and hard work can push your boundaries and make you achieve your aspirations. The tight camaraderie between us is also a vital aspect to show unity and strength and the importance of supporting one another through highs and lows.
The film will be created off a cliff face in West Cornwall, demonstrating the beauty of where we live, and reflecting that beauty always comes with changing tides, rough waves and risky adventures. We are not interested in masking the imperfections - we will contrast the beauty of somersaults, curves and runs, with the scrapes, bashes and failings of our time on the cliff face.
As part of the rehearsal and filming process we will invite three community groups, which will encompass a wide range of ages to a bespoke workshop centred around facing challenges and obstacles, and will definitely include a go on the wall....!
We have also put number of advertisements out for a couple of additional roles for our film - costume designer, film assistant and aerial shadower - these roles are aimed specifically at students or recent graduates to allow them to access experience in the field as they continue their career.
Your money will go towards: rigging costs (health & safety!), artist fees, workshop fees, placement opportunities, editing, and our launch event. Your money will go into our bigger budget, as match funding, of which we are applying to Arts Council England for and will help us REALLY get ourselves off the ground (quite literally!), so we really cannot do it without your support.
We are aiming for £1500 but if we pass that threshold YES! We are aiming to SMASH this target so we can make this film the BEST it can possibly be, and reach as many people as we possibly can!
We have been talking, forming ideas, constructing. deconstructing, and dreaming of this project for nearly 2 years now! This is our first project together and we're so excited to see what the 3 of us can bring to it. We have a fantastic team of individuals that is going to bring this film to life and make it explode!
We want to reach as MANY people as possible, not just people that usually watch dance, but to people walking down the streets, people who've never been to the theatre, to people who maybe say no a lot to things. We are aiming to show this film in cinemas as part of the adverts, big outdoor screens, various websites, film festivals etc.
We want to inspire, make people believe in themselves and their dreams! It would mean THE WORLD to us if you donated as much or as little as you can. We are so passionate about this film and are CERTAIN that it will evoke something in YOU.
Thank you everyone Grace, Charlotte & Becky x
Risks and challenges
Health & Safety
We will have fully qualified IRATA riggers who are experienced in working in outdoor extreme environments to ensure our safety and also to respect and protect the environment we are working in. It is also important that we are up to date with our Health & Safety documents for each area we work in, as each environment will have their own risks and we will need to be aware of each potential.
We are in the process of waiting for the outcome of the Arts Council England funding (of which this is match funding for), the result of which will be known by the end of January 2019. If for any reason our application isn't successful, we will resubmit it which will delay our original filming dates, but our aim will still be to go ahead with the project at a later date.
The initial rehearsals will be indoors, however, the filming will be on location outdoors on the cliff. We are also aware that we will be filming in April so showers will be a plenty! We are absolutely fine to work through the rain (as we want the film to be as real as possible), however, if the weather becomes too extreme, and our location becomes unsafe, we will have retreat until the weather subsides. This may delay our film shoot, however we have incorporated 2 rain days just in case.
