The funds raised on Kickstarter will go directly to artist travel, lodging, food, and production costs for the workshop, including the film concept that will be re-worked, re-shaped and shot with workshop participants.
This can be broken down into:
-Four roundtrip airfare tickets for two visiting workshop leaders, a sound engineer, and poet from the U.S. to Sudan
-Transportation within the Khartoum area throughout the duration of the workshops
LODGING & FOOD
-Renting a shared space for the visiting artists while in Khartoum
-Basic food and incidentals
-We will make use of resources provided by the Sudan Film Factory and Goethe-Institut in terms of space and equipment (tables, chairs, A/V presentation) for the workshops, and while developing the concept of the film through the workshops will focus on using already-available video equipment.
-We'll be bringing our own audio equipment, as well as additional video materials as necessary, the most immediate and costly of them are lenses for a Canon 5D.
-Also among our potential workshop production costs is the rental of a vehicle or vehicles for the actual shoot of the collaborative film, which will be produced locally but emphasizes cross-country travel.
The funds raised on Kickstarter will NOT be donated in any shape or form to any of the organizations mentioned. The purpose of this campaign is to enable an international collaboration of artists with a shared passion for filmmaking in Sudan. The money empowers Aboudigin Films to be self-sufficient throughout the duration of the project and to not be a financial burden on the Sudan Film Factory, which is marking its launch as an independent organization.
