Faronnia is a retro online RPG, very much inspired by the Diablo games, featuring over 400 Monsters and NPCs, epic gear and loot, epic maps, an advanced skill learning and leveling system, extensive guild and faction content, a unique and easy-to-use crafting system, group quests and events, wings and pets, unique pVp events, and epic multiplayer quests that demand teamplay to guarantee success.

This is the ultimate old school Hack&Slash, Dungeon Crawling Action-RPG Experience!

When I was just 14 years old, I woke up one morning from a dream which somehow convinced me right there and then to develop my own video game...

Hi, my name is Alexandre, but you can call me Mil. And I am now 27 years old, living with my girlfriend on Turkey's West Coast. I am mainly a hobbyist, I play guitar for several small local bands, I make, repair and customize guitars, I do the youtube and the twitchTV stream thing, and I work on this video game project.

Now back then when I was 14 years old and wanted to make a game, I wasn't very knowledgeable in the realm of computers, windows, sql servers, networking, and pc gaming in general. But thanks to the power of the internet, I found my way to MMORPG Development and Game Development forums where I slowly by slowly made friends online who wanted to help me with my vision of this project. Years later, here we are, me and the small team, trying are hardest to get our MMORPG off the ground.

This is an old game, an old project, and old engine.

Point and click, no WASD!

Which we have perfected from raw code to design, and have been expanding upon for a long time now. But you do not need to be a retro gamer to enjoy this game, because I believe that Faronnia has personality, character, and a visual style that is original and beautiful. The game is not built in Unity or Unreal, but rather a much older piece of software known as MU Engine, with an outdated but absolutely functional development framework.

I do not do the gameserver code, thats Mik's job. I take the roles of head administrator, owner, and lead designer in this project. My talent is mostly revealed through my presentation skills, which is why I do all the world building, music and sound effects, textures, etc.

The game is finalized and ready for release.

WHY KICKSTARTER?

I have tried to launch this game 2 times in the past, and have failed both times. The first time, our systems were still under-developed. The 2nd time, we had some very bad luck with our gameclient anticheat system which was disconnecting users. It was doomed to be a fail launch, as only £100 had been spent into advertising. So far this game has been self-funded, I have payed for all the hosting and development costs up to this point, and its starting to become a little difficult to keep up.

This is the 3rd and final time I am trying to successfully launch this game project of mine that I've kept in the bag for about 10 long years now. The sheer amount of time, passion and effort that myself and the team have put into this, I feel, must come to something. It would be a terrible shame if it went to waste, because I believe in the product.

What we've got here is a beautifully designed retro 3-D diablo style MMORPG, and despite its simplicity, it absolutely holds up as a fun action online RPG.

If we can get backed on Kickstarter and meet our funding goals, that would go a long way in helping us with successfully launching Faronnia.

Once we are funded, to keep the servers running in the future we have a Webshop and Gold Membership system, since this is otherwise a free to play game. Gold Membership gives a permanent +50% exp gain rate, and our webshop contains item enhancing jewels and a small selection of mid-tier weapons.

We have setup a reward tier system for project backers.

OUR GOAL

We are not intending and do not expect to break any world records with Faronnia, all we wish to do is make the game available for those who would enjoy something like this, as well as bring a little more public attention to our game.

We are not business corporate people, we're gamers like you who are eager to build up a playerbase and bring in some fresh life into our beloved game project, which we have spent a lot of time into.

I have made my calculations, and £2000 is the minimum we require to successfully launch this MMORPG.

As mentioned previously, the game is finished and has been remastered time and time again, development costs have been payed.

The funds I am hoping to grow here on Kickstarter will be mainly going towards advertising online.

And yes, a steam release is also planned for.

Risks and challenges

The risk is not pulling in enough players on release, and dying down the hype extremely soon instead of growing. This would be an unsuccessful launch, which I have experience with. To learn, one must try and fail, several times usually.

We want are game to do moderately well, and are doing our very best to make it happen.
