If you’re old enough...or hip to awesome cinematic lore, you remember the joy of wandering the blissfully bloody aisles of the horror section of your local video store. We're not talking about the big, brightly-lit stores like Blockbuster, either. We mean the hole-in-the-wall shops, where you could find some deep dive horror movies.
Well, welcome to Video Hell.
Lunchbox Press proudly presents Graveyard Slaughter.
Lunchbox Press invites you back to those video stores of old. This collection of four horror epics is written by Cullen Bunn and Kevin Watkins. The stories are illustrated by a host of amazing talent, including Javier Saltares, Blacky Shepherd, Gary Bedell, and Adam McLaughlin.
We are also pleased to have award-winning and best-selling author, Paul Tremblay, providing an introduction to our premiere issue.
The stories in this comic harken back to the dark, bloody, subversive horror yarns that sat in clamshell boxes on video stores shelves across the country. They’re gruesome and gory and fun horror tales, and we're all psyched to be part of the book.
Once funded...we plan on delivering you the book by Halloween 2019.
Be kind. Rewind.
Early Acclaim for Graveyard Slaughter
“Video store wonderment, arcades and slasher gore, everything I wanted when I was 9!”
-CM Punk (Mixed martial artist, actor (Rabid), comic book writer (Drax), and retired professional wrestler)
"Reading this collection felt like stepping back in time to my first reads of Goosebumps, or watching Are you Afraid of the Dark."
-The Convention Collective
"Their 50-page comic book anthology perfectly embraces the bloody madness and nostalgia of classic '80s VHS gore and those passionately curated horror aisles of the deep-dive video rental stores."
"80s homage that is perfectly brought to life with thrills and chills that will ignite your imagination as you get lost in this world."
-Reading With A Flight Ring
"Come for the monsters, the gore, and the scares, and stay for the exact same reason. It’s truly an enjoyable read for anyone that loves the camp, gore, and horror that the 1980s did so well."
-Monkeys Fighting Robots
"It’s hard not to love this book. Graveyard Slaughter #1 embraces the off the wall mania of the VHS horror section."
-But Why Tho?
"Stories of the lunatic in the woods, the teens drinking and partying, or the game of hide and seek in the graveyard are all tropes that have been used often. It is the execution of these stories and, in some, the ending that keeps you engaged in Graveyard Slaughter."
"Graveyard Slaughter is dripping with '80s nostalgia and covered in blood...all of the stories feel like they were pulled right from my childhood."
At over 50 pages, the first issue is done. We are so excited to share it with you. There will be three different covers to choose from: Standard Cover by Gary Bedell, Variant Cover by Javier Saltares, and a limited Sketch Cover option by the artist of your choice.
Each backer of the physical copy of the book will get an exclusive Graveyard Slaughter Bookmark and a Digital Copy of Survive the Night...The Official Theme of Graveyard Slaughter.
