"I was living in chaos and disorder but learnt a whole new way of ordering my belongings. I’ve created a home that’s clutter-free and that I really enjoy living in. I couldn't have done it on my own. Helen gave me back control over my environment and my life. By getting rid of the old I have made room for the new" Caroline

Create the change you want
I’ve helped hundreds of clients declutter, so I know what stops people creating the home space they want and the solutions to these blocks. I've used this experience to develop my tried and tested decluttering method which I have crystallised into this kit: a simple, step-by-step decluttering process - in a box. There’s an easy-to-use guide revealing the secrets of my highly effective declutter process and a set of over 30 beautifully-illustrated prompt cards. I guarantee it can help you clear and transform your space.
In some ways, this is actually five kits in one. Using different sets of cards you can do a full declutter, an everyday tidy up, declutter your wardrobe, sort out those piles of paperwork or find ways to honour things with important memories and strong emotional associations.
Dealing with your clutter doesn't have to be a chore: it's an amazing opportunity to create positive change and growth in your life, even though you may dread doing it or put it off. I know from my experience with hundreds of people, that when you clear clutter and create space in the home it leads to magical transformations. This may seem a big claim, but I firmly believe your space is a reflection of your inner world. So by changing the outer – your environment – you can energise your inner state of wellbeing.
"The energy of the house changed and felt more peaceful and energised. The extra physical space gave more mental and emotional space too. I was expecting a change in practical arrangements but hadn't anticipated the change in the feeling of the house. It was like having a new home!" Gina
How the kit helps you solve the five biggest blocks to decluttering
1. Not knowing how or where to start. Step by step, I’ll show you a clear, tried and tested system that really works
2. Keep putting it off. The kit makes it easy to get started and complete your declutter project
3. Not having a clear goal or vision. I’ll help you set a clear intention for what you will achieve
4. Overwhelm/trying to do too much. My method will break your decluttering project down into simple, easy to manage steps
5. Unconscious and emotional blocks. The beautiful drawings and design engage your inner child and build positive feelings and associations
Unique and original
This kit is the first of its kind. Decluttering is becoming more popular and more important as people live busier lives, often in smaller homes. There are plenty of books out there that talk about the theory, but the Home Declutter Kit is about putting the theory into practice. Actually pulling up your sleeves and creating a space that's free from all that stuff you don't really want or need, a space that supports and nurtures you.
If you are into yoga, you’ll be familiar with detoxing your body, doing an annual purge or fast. Well, I'd like to introduce to you your annual 'House Purge' with an easy, step-by-step process and the tools to Do it Yourself!
I know you will love using this kit. I'm aware that there are many people who may not be able to find an organiser nearby, or for whom having someone come and help is out of their budget. Or perhaps you are a busy person and will find the cards a quick and easy way to do a tidy up or clear out. You can work with the Kit alone, or maybe with a friend, and have me by your side, virtually supporting you to let things go, making space for more calm.
One of the key things about this kit is the beautiful design and illustrations. I’m fascinated by the psychology of clutter and have noticed something: as an adult, people can see that decluttering is a good idea and what the benefits would be, but often their unconscious or inner child often doesn’t want to do it! This creates an inner conflict. So I've worked with a wonderful illustrator to develop a set of beautiful drawings to engage that child part, so it feels included in the process. Trust me on this: the child in you will be happier because of the drawings.
There’s another reason I’ve focused on making the cards and kit beautiful: clutter, and dealing with it, is often associated with mess and negative feelings. So I’ve designed the kit to be inspiring and uplifting. I want you to look forward to getting out the kit and cards and working with them to create calm and harmony in your home.
Learn the secrets of how to declutter
The kit includes a simple, step-by-step guide to my mindful method of using cards to categorise clutter and then make it disappear. There are several categories of card in the kit. The main core set is the one you'll use for most declutter projects. You'll always need some of the cards, for example for a quick tidy up, while others you'll only use for a bigger purge, or specificthings such as the wardrobe, a holiday home or office. Another set will help you deal with paperwork, and there's some for working with those things which have strong memories associated with them. My process supports you to find the things you love and keep your precious memories intact.
My hope is that you go for the deep purge and use this kit to make a radical transformation in the energy of your home, and then use it for maintaining a sense of order. But it may be that you simply want to use it as a fast and efficient way of clearing the kitchen cupboards or that proverbial 'homeless corner' that gathers all the objects that need dealing with in some way.
Decluttering isn’t about throwing things ways, it’s about choices
This is a process of reconnecting with and remembering what you have. You will find things more easily, your will have more flow and ease in your home and in your life. You will feel good about yourself, as the home is really an extension of you – so doing this job represents a big tick on the self-care activity! A lot of my method is about common sense. But I created the kit because I know that what is logical for some is more taxing for others. I have tried to make it as simple and easy to follow as possible. The cards really do speak for themselves. I hope you will love using the cards. I know I do!
Who this kit will help
The Kit is for anyone who would like to create a simpler, calmer home environment that supports them to live the life they aspire to and wants to make a positive shift towards making this happen.
It can help anyone who has a little too much stuff in their life and not quite enough space. It can also help anyone who has gone through loss, is struggling with a major life change, feels stuck, depressed or overwhelmed. Anyone who perhaps is in a bit of denial that the things and emotions that clutter up their life are actually standing in the way of them pursuing their dreams and living a more fulfilling life.
People like the amazing decluttering clients I've worked with over the years who are proof that change is possible.
If this sounds like you, the Home Declutter Kit will help you create change in your home and your life, so pledge now on the right of the page and be one of the first to get the kit.
Why I created the kit
I’ve been an interior designer and personal organiser and mentored people for over ten years, and I’ve seen huge changes in my client’s lives through decluttering and transforming the space around them. Decluttering is about so much more than clearing space. It has an impact on many other aspects of your life. My dream is to make my decluttering process available and affordable to as many people as possible, so they can have this transformative experience with the space around them and their lives as well.
If I reach my crowdfunding goal, then I know that at least 1,000 people will have this kit in their hands. And that’s 1,000 calmer, less cluttered and more nurturing homes for them and their loved ones
I've been decluttering for ten years using the methods and principles embedded in the kit. Here are some words from people I've helped create calm from clutter.
"I see Helen as an investment in my emotional wellbeing. After she created a system for my paperwork I felt like I could think clearly again. I didn’t realise how much mental energy I’d been using on my clutter. She’s like a personal trainer helping me build my organisation muscle” Sara
"I was swamped with mess, clutter and stuck in procrastination. I feel a million times lighter and now have room in my cupboards and room in my head for a new start. Fantastic!" Chris
"I honestly don't think I would have achieved such amazing results without Helen. Only a few months ago decluttering my house seemed like an impossible task and now it's a reality. I can finally enjoy my space and my once cluttered loft room is now a lovely study/spare bedroom!" Concetta

Lastly, and by no means least, a massive thank you to all my clients for their courage to face their clutter and ask me for help. They've enabled me to develop and refine my method over the years. And it's the transformations I've seen in their homes and lives that have inspired me to create the Home Declutter Kit, make it available to all and to keep going when the obstacles have sprung up in my way.
So what are the project costs
Product design and development £3,000
Copy editing £580
Print production costs £6,980
ISBN number £89
Video production £650
Storage and order fulfilment £1,000
Kickstarter and payment fees £1,900
Finally, me. I've included nothing for myself to cover the blood, sweat and tears (there have been a few, believe me!) that I've poured into this project. But if we exceed the target I'd like to add £1,500 so I can hold a launch event to celebrate the success and thank everyone who has supported and backed me along the way.
Stretch funding goals
I'd be ecstatic if we can exceed the £19,000 minimum goal. If we can raise more it will allow me to help more people who need support have access to my method. I'll do this by:
Printing a larger quantity; 2000+ copies, so 1000 more people can have the kit sooner creating a digital version of the kit that can be downloaded anywhere in the world. PLUS I can hold the launch event to thank everyone who has helped support me and make some noise about the value of decluttering
BONUS: Once we top the £19k target I'll start making videos and send them out to all backers. These will be about my declutter, mentoring and coaching work, bringing you insights into the changes that happen in people's lives when they become more mindful of the stuff around them.
I'm offering a number of bonuses for different reward levels here on Kickstarter, not available anywhere else. Check out the rewards for details.
Thank you for pledging your support!
Risks and challenges
I'm confident the Kit will be printed, but there are a few risks and challenges to note:
1. Possible delays from the printer — I've never printed a book on my own before. But I'm using a highly-recommended professional service, so I'm confident things will go well. To keep costs - and the price to the end user - low, I've opted for production in China. This does mean a longer lead time, but my main goal is to make my kit accessible to as many people as possible.
The production is carefully managed by a British production company, who along with me, will oversee all aspects of the production. This will ensure the quality of the final product is high. I've seen samples of products they produce and they look great. Delivery is planned for early 2017, ready for that spring clean!
Ethics and environment
I've checked it out with the production company and they only work with Chinese companies that have high ethical, employment and environmental standards. Shipping will be via sea, so low carbon footprint.
2. Shipping delays — I'm using a UK fulfilment company to ship the Kit out once printed. It's possible this will take a little longer than I'd like, so we'll all have to stay calm if there are any delays.
All of this is doable, and I don't anticipate major problems.
I won’t be making any profit from this project, but once the kit has been published I’ll have all the illustrations and design assets in place to produce a commercial edition (once I can raise the capital for the production costs). I aim to market these at £35, so people buying the Kickstarter edition will get a great price, as well as receiving a copy of the kit a minimum of 6 months before any commercial edition launches.
Having said that, whether or not the kit is a commercially viable product, it has been a dream of mine to create this beautifully illustrated kit for many years now, and even if only the 1,000 Kickstarter editions make it into the world I will be happy because that will mean 1,000 people will reap the benefits of a calmer, more nurturing home.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
