What's the deal with Run-A-Mucks?!
Run-A-Mucks is a series of mini figures in the tradition of classics like M.U.S.C.L.E. or Monster in My Pocket. It is a set of 6 unique characters, each designed by a different artist, and sculpted by me, Bryan Fulk. Some of these are a bit more ambitious in design than your typical mini. This mostly means that I have allowed for more complex sculpting and molding than you might usually see in a straight forward 2-part molded mini figure. A couple of the characters are deeper and/or wider with more overall mass than average. Some characters have features smaller and thinner than you might normally expect and some will be molded in multiple parts to accommodate more complicated designs and more extreme angles than are typically possible in 2-part molding.
These extra allowances translate to a more costly molding and manufacturing process, so consider this a deluxe series of mini figures. These figures require about twice the amount of steel molds a traditional set of 6 minis would need and more overall volume of product in the actual casting of the toys. They will fit nicely with your mini figure collection in size and scope, but you will find extra detail or girth to some of these toys. They will be injection molded PVC to assure a consistent and quality product.
After my involvement with October Toys’ OMFG line (another great toy series in the history of minis, also funded on Kickstarter), I was contacted for several commissions and began to collect and sculpt designs. Before long, I was surrounded by new and original mini figures and thought it was time to start a new line for this eclectic bunch, and Run-A-Mucks was born!
Available here on Kickstarter is the classic 'flesh' colorway and also a Kickstarter exclusive green colorway--the first in a ROYGBIV rainbow set.
Keep your eyes peeled for the whole ROYGBIV collection. You can make a rainbow of Run-A-Mucks with 7 different colorways available from Last Resort Toys and a handful of other retailers and partners that will have exclusive colorways available. Get a jump start on your rainbow with the exclusive green set only available on Kickstarter and check out The Collector reward tier for even more colors.
Here's a look at the lineup:
Conceived of by Al Sharpe (aka bigburty), Grinade is an amazing design for a mini figure from his maniacal grin to his unlaced boots.
Originally, Grinade was drawn in more of a "saluting" pose, but then Al redrew him into this "pulling the pin" pose making the character seem a bit on edge and creating some great tension around the design.
This guy is the smallest of the group, based on Sam De Jesus' character, Antaeus.
When I came across Sam's larger sculpture of his character, I immediately saw the potential for scaling it down into a mini. With Sam's blessing, I sculpted his little tongue-gun wielding frog at just 1.25" from head to toe, plus the gun.
And take a look at Sam's larger scale Antaes on which I based the mini figure:
Trysta Lilford's character began as a high school doodle and was later revised into this more fully realized design. She, yes SHE, is the female character of the group.
Sporloff is hands down the most deluxe figure in the lineup as the design is not at all friendly for 2-part molding; however, I wanted to keep the interesting shapes and design so I've worked with the factory in order to make no compromise on the design from the prototype to the final production figures. This is also the largest overall figure of the group.
What's a series of mini figures without a good play on words for a character's name? Designer Nik Sardos, a.k.a. T16skyhopp, has provided just that with this anthropomorphized coffin.
His concept art really gives life and motion to what is essentially just a wooden box. The hunched over feel and jagged "teeth" really lend this design some character.
Stinkweed was conceived of by Gabriel Barragan and designed by Christopher Howard Wolf (Slimebeast). Stinkweed is the obligatory "arms bursting out of something" character for the lineup.
I absolutely love this original MS Paint mockup Gabriel created. Simple as it is, it just goes to show that a nugget of a good idea can turn into a mean looking 3-D character. The next stage was this more detailed version of the character Christopher Howard Wolf provided upon which I based the sculpt.
This is my own addition to Run-A-Mucks. I really like using asymmetry in little toys to create something visually interesting in a small package. And with a general lack of texture I wanted to cram as much detail in as possible and to create a feeling of asymmetrical balance with the leaning hat opposite the melting puddle, and the outstretched gloved hand opposite the dangling blow dryer cord to have some visual push and pull.
Not to be outdone by the other designers, I'll share this amazing concept sketch I roughed out before sculpting.

Risks and challenges
The risks and challenges of this project have been largely accounted for through meticulous pre-produciton and planning. I'm partnering with Onell Design for manufacturing, so you can be assured that these toys will be top-notch in consistency and quality.
I have already worked out molding and production costs with the factory and have an accurate timeline of production expectations. Bumps along the way are possible, but we have worked closely together to cover all our bases.
I have already been through the process of running a successful Kickstarter campaign which is currently in the fulfillment phase and we anticipate smooth production and fulfillment processes again.
And finally, there is the inherent challenge of reaching a large enough audience to bring a project like this to fruition. Not only is your support needed by backing this campaign, but if you like these toys and want to help contribute to the success of this and future projects, please share it on social media, and tell your fellow toy collectors, artists, nerds, family, and friends!
