Mojo is a vertical farming system which allows you to grow your own herbs, fruits and vegetables in small spaces.
Our team loves the city life but we wanted to take a step back, slow down and get back in contact with nature some more, by growing our own food.
Therefore we brought Mojo to life - with a team of organic farmers, internet enthusiasts, designers and carpenters. We all share the same dream of living a more sustainable and self-sufficient lifestyle.
Our organic farmers provide all the knowledge needed on mojogarten.com to ensure your growing success. The internet experts in our team created a how-to-grow guide and a seasonal calendar for more advanced farming.
Mojo is made of durable and high-quality materials. We made sure that no stone was left unturned to find the best wood for outdoor use - larche.
The level of craftmanship ensure a sustainable long lasting quality. All the parts are beautifully sawed and pre-milled for easy assembling at home.
After putting Mojo together and adding the drainage, soil is all you need to get started.
We love to share our experiences and knowledge on social media. Connect and help each other to get better growing results.
Mojo is a size of (w) 80cm x 70cm (l) x 175cm (h) making it a perfect fit for the average sized balconies.
Mojo comes with a basic frame and modular upper boxes to adjust to the individual growth of plants. Our boxes have a soil capacity of 7, 12, 22 and 160 liters.
We're working on a water element which is due for release end-2016 if we reach €10.000.
The water tank with a capacity of around 30 liters, will be placed in a spare space in the back of the lowest box. Connected pipes will assure a constant water supply for your plants, so self watering won't be necessary anymore.
We spend the last 1.5 years engineering a super easy plug-and-play system.
Mojo evolved over time. Our very first sketches and prototypes were built with the help of friends and family. But we soon started to work with a local carpenter to perfect our idea.
The biggest challenge for us was to make a high-quality frame that is easy. Easy to ship, easy to assemble, easy to grow.
Besides developing a frame for plant growth we developed a website that will contain all the knowledge needed about plants, soil, seed and taking care to ensure growing succes. It is optimized for smartphone use and we would love your input to make it your perfect companion for Mojo.
We're full of ideas to make urban farming even easier - so let's start and make our cities greener.
Risks and challenges
Production - Our team is experienced in both design and manufacturing and we have developed the product together with our trusted suppliers from day one. The jurists in our team are ensuring the production and shipping requirements. There are no more official approvals on production or shipping we need so the way for a straightforward cooperation has already been paved. You won't settle for a mediocre product and neither will we, so we won't be compromising on quality in order to save time. Should any issues arise we promise to keep you updated every step of the way.
Website development - Part of our motivation for choosing Kickstarter was to gain feedback on your most desired features for the website. Although we have already completed our first setup and outlined a plan for how the final website will function, additional ideas are more than welcome.
Growing our community - We currently are working with a number of biological farmers, internet experts and engineers to help build Mojogarten. It's our goal to build a smart Mojo and will be working hard to continually optimize and expand our products by partnering with specialists in different areas.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
