This project seeks to fund the multi-platform publication of two debut collections of poetry, Within Mutiny by Holms Troelstrup and Lemonworld & Other Poems by Carina Finn, as paperback books, ebooks, enhanced iPad editions including audio from the authors, and unique, short-run collaborations with artists. The project also seeks to aid a reading tour for the authors in support of both works upon their publication.
WITHIN MUTINY by HOLMS TROELSTRUP
Holms Troelstrup's debut collection Within Mutiny interrogates the gestation of loss within all embodied beings. In these poems, specific moments, plants, lovers, the unborn, and even cities grow intertwined with the self, mapping an interior—its emotional web of languages, surfaces, and memories. And yet, despite keen observation and our best efforts, nothing can be kept, and despite our reaching, nothing held. Troelstrup's poems reveal that, in their particular time, all beings are damned ever to ache, are sentenced eternally to hope.
LEMONWORLD & OTHER POEMS by CARINA FINN
Carina Finn's debut collection LEMONWORLD & OTHER POEMS explores the contemporary zeitgeist through the lyricism of fashion, pop, and the youthful vernacular, engaging readers by asserting a sense of self that is at once aware of its place in the cultural collective and of its undeniable otherness. The poems in LEMONWORLD are sound bites on crack, designed to be aurally devastating and always well dressed.
co•im•press was dreamt up in 2012 during the heated debates about what a collaborative/cooperative publishing venture might look like and is officially launching this spring. I've edited the online journal Seven Corners (7C) since 2006 and been involved with professional literary publishing since 2008, and I wanted to bring my love of books, well-designed things, and new authors to bear on a micropress that embraces the innovative possibilities for publishing in the twenty-first century.
co•im•press (collaborative—cooperative—immediate) is a five-year, ten-project initiative to publish strange, transgressive, or “unpublishable” writing by unsung or under-sung authors. We seek texts that meet the needs of an audience that craves a precise combination of formal and linguistic rigor mixed with emotional complexity and dis-ease.
co•im•press publishes work on multiple platforms, including print, art, fine art, electronic, and digital/multimodal editions with an emphasis on high production quality and design at every level.
co•im•press is dedicated to working with authors who want to learn about the publishing process; are interested in collaborating on innovative fundraising, networking, and production solutions; and are eager to brainstorm ideas for marketing and promoting their own work through reading tours, events, word of mouth, grassroots initiatives, and ingenious publicity stunts.

Risks and challenges
Publishing multi-platform book projects is an expensive and time-intensive endeavor, from design and production to printing to shipping to working with authors or artists on special editions, reading tours, and book marketing. As the director of co•im•press, I have big ambitions and visions, and I love collaborating with authors, artists, and volunteers to create amazing objects, but sometimes the unsexy tasks of publishing take me longer than I anticipate. Too, being a startup micropress, co•im•press often encounters small roadblocks that change the nature of the project as it evolves.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
