Frequently Asked Questions
What is the controller board?
In a 3D printer, the motion controller, namely the 3D printer motherboard, is a core part responsible for the electronic functioning, such as parsing g-code files, regulating temperature, and moving motors. The motion controller is so essential like a brain inside the 3D printer that keeps track of a lot of things. Without a motion controller board, the 3D printer can barely do anything expect for turning certain components on or off via manual click of a switch.
8-bit motherboard VS 32-bit motherboard: Differences
In 3D printing communities, there are mainly two camps, namely the 8-bit motherboard camp, and the 32-bit motherboard camp. The major difference lies in the internal architecture of the chip.
The number of bits tells you the size of the registers (8 bits per register), number of memory addresses (only 2^8 = 256 addresses), and the largest numbers they can process (again, 2^8 = 256 integers, or integers 0 through 255). In this way, the 8-bit can processes 8-bits of data at any particular time. The 32-bit can theoretically handle numbers reaching 2^32. In general, this means that a 32-bit can handle quadruple the amount of data, making it technically more data efficient.
One primary of the primary advantages of a 32-bit microcontroller over an 8-bit microcontroller is its superior processing speed. A typical 8-bit microcontroller usually runs at 8 Mhz while a 32-bit microcontroller can be clocked up to hundreds of Mhz.
The Advantages of 32-bit Motherboard for 3D Printers:
1. Speed – 32-bit motherboard can process more date than the 8-bit motherboard during the same time period. However, the differences on 3D printer is merely not big, because the speed and acceleration are static, and dynamic acceleration is not used, so there is no significant difference between 8-bit and 32-bit processors
2. Print Quality – The 8-bit motherboard and the 32-bit motherboard doesn’t affect too much on the print resolution. Normally, the slicing software will compensate for slow and complex calculations by reducing resolution, so as not to introduce overextrusion and zits.
3. Avoiding firmware problems – Many software-based hacks have been created to compensate for the lack of hardware floating point in 8 bit processors. Firmware updates can completely bog down an 8 bit processor if they have not been tested under a variety of conditions.
4. Upgradability: On the currently used 8-bit controllers, upgradability is limited, mainly limited to data processing capabilities, but when using 32-bit processors, relative upgradability is better.Last updated:

Ender-3 V2 and CR-6 SE are both pre-assembled 3D printer kit, utilizing the mechanical arrangement of Cartesian XZ-head. Compared to Ender-3 V2, CR-6 SE is of a simpler structure in 5 different parts, which only takes 5 mins to finish it assembly. Ender-3 V2 will take about 15 mins.
In terms of print size, CR-6 SE is having a larger printing volume. Ender-3 V2 is sharing the same print volume of 220x220x250mm with its predecessor Ender-3, and the print size of CR-6 SE is 235x235x250mm.
In terms of motion stability, Ender-3 V2 is having Single Z-axis, while the CR-6 SE is having dual Z-axes with timing belt, which means that the CR-6 SE will have higher motion stability and balance during printing.
In terms of printing performance, both Ender-3 V2 and CR-6 SE are doing a great job in delivering quality prints. One more highlight the CR-6 SE will excel Ender-3 V2 is silent printing because CR-6 SE is having a powerful cooling fan which is also silent as well, whereas Ender-3 V2 comes with a standard cooling fan. In this way, CR-6 SE can print under 30dB, and Ender-3 V2 prints under 50dB.
Compared to Ender-3 V2, CR-6 SE is going to provide much easier and friendlier user experience as it is boasting a 4.3inch HD color touch screen to display all necessary information in Chinese and English. However, Ender-3 V2 has a 4.3inch color screen with knob. Therefore, the user navigation on CR-6 SE is more intuitive and responsive than that on Ender-3 V2.
The two printers are both smart enough to allow users to count on. Ender-3 V2 and CR-6 SE are having filament runout sensor and resume printing function. CR-6 SE, in a different way, is utilizing a photoelectric sensor which is more sensitive than physical sensors on Ender-3 V2.
As both newly developed and released in 2020, Ender-3 V2 and CR-6 SE are both designed to make 3D printing easier. Considering the practical mods, CR-6 SE will excel Ender-3 V2. Except for the belt tensioner on Ender-3 V2, CR-6 SE is boasting more:

[Add-ons] I'm new to 3D printing so I don't know why they are better than what the CR-6 SE comes with?
Please note that the Add-Ons are for replacement only, not upgrade.
As for nozzle, we recommend replacing the nozzle every three months. As for other Add-Ons, you only need to replace new one when the original one is damaged.Last updated:
The temperature of the nozzle for printing nylon materials should be 250-300 degrees. If printing nylon, the material of the nozzle and the corresponding feed pipe should be changed to a higher temperature resistant material. In addition, the material of nylon is particularly susceptible to moisture. Generally, for machines that print nylon, if a separate material is printed, the model will fail to print, and even the print head will explode. So please do not try it yourself.Last updated:
CR-6 Max's estimated retail price is USD $899.Last updated:
1. As you can see, the additional profiles and diagonal rods. Size of CR-6 Max: 725*785*680mm; size of CR-6 SE: 442*462*540mm.
2. The power supply for CR-6 Max is 500W, the power supply of CR-6 SE is 350W. Meanwhile, due to the higher power consumption, many components need better capability, like the belts, and some electron components.
3. Auto-leveling on bigger platform also asks better performance of both hardware and software. Expect the hardware cost rising, we also need more time to research and test CR-6 Max.
In the price system of Creality, the MSRP price of CR-10 S4 is $729. CR-6 Max is more powerful and functional, buying at $699 is pretty cost-effective. The price of CR-6 Max is based on the cost and market competitiveness. Creality always strives to provide good product with economic price. We will work hard to make a high-performance product, ensuring that the product you brought definitely worth the money you paid.Last updated:
