Win the race. Save your planet.
Star Racers is an action-packed, epic adventure set in the year 3834. Maelae and other ruthless killers threaten Earth and thousands of planets. To save her two planets, Sashi Oon must find a pilot who can win the race of all races, Grand Battle. Winning means a fleet of heavy destroyers will remove the invaders, and orbit her planets for all time.
Billions of lives are depending on a young art gallery owner named Sashi Oon. Sashi barely survives an escape from her planets and trains on Earth to become a qualified racing sponsor. She meets Rev Arden, and then has to decide if Rev, an amateur battlejet pilot who she falls in love with, has what it takes to win Grand Battle, a dangerous obstacle race.
Inside a battleworld, battlejets fire at battlejets while flying obstacles try to knock them out of the race. What kind of weapons does each battlejet have? What kind of obstacles are in each of the ten draft races and the final race Grand Battle? What do the battleworlds look like? Read the book.
Together with some newfound friends, Sashi and Rev escape from Earth in a starliner named Stepp I and are stalked by Maelae as they journey across the stars to get to the race - located in deep space at the Milky Way Grand Hotel.
Star Racers is a fantasy opera full of intense sci-fi action and romance. It’s a novel written for teens, young adults, and appropriate for children aged 12 and up.
Martin Felando wanted to create a sci-fi novel unlike any other, with lots of fast-paced action, romance, humor, and depth. He also wanted to give readers so many illustrations that Star Racers could redefine the graphic novel.
Five years in the making, over 100 beta readers gave feedback to improve the story and characters. The novel is ready for you to read, and the artwork is ready for you to see.
Rev Arden is a tenacious young pilot, and when he gets to the Milky Way Grand Hotel he becomes known as "the kid from Earth." A dictator named Shermi "Mor" Thyle has turned Earth into a dystopian nightmare. Rev wants to become a lifesaver and win Grand Battle to save his planet not only from Mor, but also from ruthless killers known as Maelae. Rev is the back-up plan in case something happens to Kaedn, the best battlejet pilot on Earth.
If Rev and Sashi win Grand Battle, four undefeated hyper-cruisers known as Protectors of Peace will orbit Earth, Mars, and Sashi's planets Ajah and Ossi.
Four hundred warrior princess dolls play a key role in protecting Sashi, Rev, Stepp, Krissy, Kaedn, and Dupaon as they journey from Earth to the Milky Way Grand Hotel.
The Waif Doll is just one of the 400 dolls. She is only one foot tall but she and the other dolls swore an oath to protect the starliner Stepp I.
The dolls use either a sword, blaster, a blue lightning wand, or a particle beam lance. They fly mini-helicopters, stylish mini-jet bikes, winged creatures, flying pogo sticks, and off-road vehicles. On one of their hovering fortresses, a Mad Scientist Doll plays an organ on the roof.
In the year 3834, Shermi “Mor” Thyle is the malevolent dictator of Earth and Mars. Fearing what could happen if someone wins Grand Battle, he outlaws all competitive racing on Earth. Only in the isolated free zones, protected by a shield dome, are racing and other freedoms of expression still allowed.
The Xx-scarred Maelae is a volcanic creature with self-inflicted Xx-scars all over his body. At one of his draft race press conferences, he reads a poem about what happened to his planet, and why he and other Maelae soldiers call humans their "raw material."
Stepp Gro is a popular singer and actress who wants Kaedn to win Grand Battle. Stepp's starliner Stepp I has plenty of room, and she allows Sashi and Rev to journey with her and Krissy, Kaedn, and Dupaon to the Milky Way Grand Hotel. Stepp is a lover, not a fighter, but when the love of her life is in danger she risks everything to save him.
Krissy Frekels is Stepp's best friend. She's a fun loving and carefree actress who happens to own the most dangerous high-heeled shoes in the galaxy. She and Stepp own the 400 dolls.
Dupaon is Stepp I's chief engineer. He's humanlike, but instead of hair, he has vines with thorns and eyes. When the Xx-Maelae poisons Dupaon, his thorns, eyeballs and vines grow to enormous size.
Rev, Sashi, Stepp, Krissy and Kaedn have to defend themselves or Dupaon's huge vines and thorns and Maelae Gunners will kill them.
Verus is a charming and very influential show host. He introduces his viewing audience to interesting facts about Grand Battle, and then shows off the amazing game rooms and events happening inside the Milky Way Grand Hotel.
Snappy race announcer Dux Lavon shouts “Calling All Planets” before describing the thrilling, non-stop action of one of the draft races and then the final, jaw-dropping race called Grand Battle.
Handsome orphan star racer Scrap Meat and the leather helmet wearing black centipede Betsy's Lover are star racers. They have their own chapter in which we learn who they are and why they race to save their planet.
A number of beta readers said TST is their favorite character in the novel. TST is a smartball and resembles a blue, hovering, translucent ball teeming with inner complexity.
TST stands for Tech Support Tool and is Rev’s constant companion.
TST quotes from Aristotle, battles mechs, chops up a stalking lava slug, directs a music video comprised of drone footage, and creates a baby angel orchestra to set a romantic mood for Rev and Sashi.

Risks and challenges
After five years of writing, the novel is finished. As you can see, the book cover design for STAR RACERS is finished. The artwork has been created, and all the book designer and I need to do is digitally combine the artwork with the words, and print out the books. The process of arranging the artwork on the pages and printing the books should take no more than a month.
Regarding getting the book in your hands, one key risk involves finding the right printer and delivering the highest quality book to you and others in a timely manner. I've found a well-known, established printer. Printing and distributing the book shouldn't be an issue.
I know exactly how it feels to wait for delivery, and I promise I will take great care in sending you a finished product in a timely manner.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
