Welcome to the 26th volume of Dimgaard's DnD adventures. Thanks for the consideration. These are PDFs delivered through our proprietary document management system. If you want to see what a Dimgaard adventure module looks like, samples of the opening chapters in the two current campaigns (Patron Wars and Encounters with Gold) are available at www.dimgaard.com – as well as other information about the Dimgaard setting - including other free modules from past campaigns.
If you have been following Dimgaard you may note that we have previously qualified our offerings with 5th edition. We have decided to expand into Pathfinder. We are tiptoeing in with a single 1st level adventure that will be offered in the April Patreon bundle, and the first stretch goal here (which is always met).
In particular, we would note the six principles that Dimgaard builds its adventures around (each of which is elaborated on at www.dimgaard.com):
- A strong story.
- Strict adherence to Rules As Written (RAW).
- Largest set of player options.
- Challenge PCs at all levels of play.
- Low DM prep time.
- Easy presentation.
It is always exciting when we launch a new 21-chapter adventure. We do so here: Patron Wars. At the heart of this is the Blood War and the river Styx's key role in that eternal conflict. We examine the role of warlocks in these conflicts, and as the story progresses we'll see special patrons other than fiends involved.
We continue with Encounters with Gold and have episodes 11-13 of it.
We continue our exploration of PC class builds as NPCs with: GLD27 Conquest Paladin CR0-20. And we offer our third compilation of NPCs culled from the various Dimgaard modules that a DM can utilize in a broader context: DGN3 NPCs Vol III.
The module summaries in this volume:
Encounters with Gold
EG11 Draconic Assassinations. Tensions between various draconic subcultures have been rising for months. The violence cannot be constrained any longer. Can heroes survive the wave of murder? A Dungeons and Dragons® 5th Edition Adventure for 1-8 11th level characters. The 11th episode in Encounters with Gold.
EG12 Draconic Machinations. Terror spreads as Dragon Cabalists unleash a wave of assassinations. An unlikely ally offers an opportunity to confront the leaders of the Cabal – at least in the area around Odill. Can heroes arise to quell the wanton violence? A Dungeons and Dragons® 5th Edition Adventure for 1-8 12th level characters. The 12th episode of Encounters with Gold.
EG13 Draconic Interference. After decades of planning, the Dragon Cabal is making its move to seize control of south-central Dimgaard. However, there are some key Cabal elements that are vulnerable. Can heroes slow the evolving Cabal plan long enough to prevent an overwhelming Cabal campaign? A Dungeons and Dragons® 5th Edition Adventure for 1-8 13th level characters. The 13th episode of Encounters with Gold.
PW1 Dark Patrons. A demon worshipping warlock is taking advantage of a new shift in the flow of the river Styx. Can heroes stop the warlock before his evil influence corrupts the area? A Dungeons and Dragons® 5th Edition Adventure for 1-8 1st level characters. Episode 1 of the Patron Wars.
PW2 A Patron's Outpost. A forward element of a demon lord has established a base along the Peka river where the river Styx is quickly corrupting the idyllic northern waterway. Can heroes eliminate this presence before it becomes entrenched? A Dungeons and Dragons® 5th Edition Adventure for 1-8 2nd level characters. Episode 2 of the Patron Wars.
PW3 A Patron's Expeditions. Parties from the lower planes and those who serve them are probing along the Peka river. Even this limited engagement is devastating the surrounding communities. Can heroes alleviate the suffering imposed by this incursion? A Dungeons and Dragons® 5th Edition Adventure for 1-8 3rd level characters. Episode 3 of the Patron Wars.
PW4 Patrons' Ultimatums. Devils and demons are vying for the upper hand in the newly exposed Peka river (because of the new confluence with the river Styx). Regardless of which ultimatum the Major accepts the village will suffer. Can heroes make a sufficient impression to establish independence for Farjvad? A Dungeons and Dragons® 5th Edition Adventure for 1-8 4th level characters. Episode 4 of the Patron Wars.
At this point we are quite sure that we will meet some stretch goals (which everyone gets – including the $1 backers). The first two are the two supplements offered with the February Patreon.
At $1,000: We'll add the supplement DGS35 Adventuring Days VI (for 6th level PCs). This contains three tight (one page) but complete adventures: a giant centered rescue mission (because we haven't forgotten how fun Tales of Ordning was), a Cavern Realm (Underdark) battle (because Tyranny in Purple is still on our minds), and a fiendish dungeon (to kick off Patron Wars).
At $1,500: We'll add the supplement DGM4 Pearl of Power, the next installment in the expanded magic items appropriate for Dimgaard or an interesting addition to any campaign.
Risks and challenges
While the modules are complete, we do a final review before distribution. We try to do this in a seamless and timely matter, but Vol. XIV was delayed a week, Vol. XXII was delayed three weeks to work through an issue with one of the modules, and Vol. XXI had to have the final version of two modules sent late. I expect to avoid such delays in the future, but it is a risk.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
