Welcome to the 25th volume of Dimgaard's 5th edition adventures. Thanks for the consideration. These are pdfs delivered through drivethrurpg.com. If you want to see what a Dimgaard adventure module looks like, samples of the opening chapters in the two current campaigns (Tyranny in Purple and Encounters with Gold) are available at www.dimgaard.com – as well as other information about the Dimgaard campaign.
In particular, we would note the six principles that Dimgaard builds its adventures around (each of which is elaborated on at www.dimgaard.com):
- A strong story.
- Strict adherence to Rules As Written (RAW).
- Largest set of player options.
- Challenge PCs at all levels of play.
- Low DM prep time.
- Easy presentation.
We continue with the two adventures: Encounters with Gold and Tyranny in Purple (which each will have a total of 21 episodes when complete, so this volume completes Tyranny in Purple). We also have a new installment in our CR0-20 series; this time the Guard Drake from Volo's, and we continue our compendium of Dimgaard with NPCs Vol. II, which presents more detailed information about NPCs who appear in Dimgaard adventures in a way that makes them useful in any D&D game.
The module summaries for this volume:
Encounters with Gold
EG8 Dragon Rumors. It is clear that draconic activity has spiked. Stories based on superstition and fear abound, but the Verdadises have discerned one that might be true. Can heroes determine the basis for the draconic activity in the city of Odill? A Dungeons and Dragons® 5th Edition Adventure for 1-8 8th level characters. The eighth episode in Encounters with Gold.
EG9 A Dragon's Challenge. With the draconic activity confirmed in Odill, a mysterious figure proposes a test of trust and mettle with the reward being the cooperation of a true dragon of immense power. Can heroes rise to the challenge and garner the favor? A Dungeons and Dragons® 5th Edition Adventure for 1-8 9th level characters. The ninth episode in Encounters with Gold.
EG10 A Dragon's Reward. A dragon reaches out with an offer to aid the heroes as reward for deeds done. However, while the heroes have garnered the right to the reward, can they collect it and secure it? A Dungeons and Dragons® 5th Edition Adventure for 1-8 10th level characters. The tenth episode in Encounters with Gold.
Tyranny in Purple
TP18 Infiltration. A plan to solve the Rebellion's problems and make the world a better place has arrived from a surprising collaborator. But can heroes infiltrate Tofarmus, the capital of the Tofarian Empire? A Dungeons and Dragons® 5th Edition Adventure for 1-8 18th level characters. The eighteenth episode in Tyranny in Purple.
TP19 Tofarmus Politics. Tofarmus is the Imperial seat where numerous factions vie for favor and engage in political intrigue. Can heroes manipulate this volatile environment so that the Emperor must call for aid and open the gates to the Rebellion's collaborators? A Dungeons and Dragons® 5th Edition Adventure for 1-8 19th level characters. The nineteenth episode in Tyranny in Purple.
TP20 A New Emperor. With the coup d'etat underway, but meeting surprisingly strong resistance, the time for subtlety is at an end. Can heroes emerge to directly effect a change of power in the Tofarian Empire? A Dungeons and Dragons® 5th Edition Adventure for 1-8 20th level characters. The twentieth episode in Tyranny in Purple.
TP21 Behind the Throne. The secrecy and misdirection of the history of the Tofarian Empire has been discovered by intrepid heroes, and it reveals the difficulty of changing the nature of the Empire beyond simply changing Emperors. Can heroes rectify the true source of Tofarian power, aggression and evil? A Dungeons and Dragons® 5th Edition Adventure for 1-8 epic 20th level characters. The twenty-first episode in Tyranny in Purple.
At this point we are quite sure that we will meet some stretch goals (which everyone gets – including the $1 backers). The first two are the two supplements offered with the February patreon.
At $1,000: We'll add the supplement DGS34 Adventuring Days V (for 5th level PCs). This contains three tight (one page) but complete adventures: a hag story (because we haven't forgotten how fun Fey Secrets was), a kobold dungeon (with some nice references to Encounters in Gold), and a Red Blades orc (because actions have consequences, and in the two years since the Red Blades war ended how are the former Red Blades orcs supporting themselves?).
At $1,500: We add DGM3 Staff of Flowers, which expands the Dimgaard tradition of requiring the sacrifice of a sentient creature to create most magic items that instills additional qualities associated with the sacrifice, and a staff of flowers is interesting – and still a magic weapon.
At $2,000: We add the adventure DGD21 Tofarian Hostages. This is an adventure for 18th level PCs that aligned with the Tyranny in Purple adventure, but is integrated into it. So it can be presented as a stand alone adventure, or the DM can weave it into the Tyranny in Purple as desired.
At $2,500: We add the adventure DGD20 Draconic Abduction. Similarly, this adventure is for 9th level PCs and is aligned with Encounters with Gold, but not integrated into the 21 episodes of Encounters with Gold.
Risks and challenges
While the modules are complete, we do a final review before distribution. We try to do this in a seamless and timely matter, but Vol. XIV was delayed a week, Vol. XXII was delayed three weeks to work through an issue with one of the modules, and Vol. XXI had to have the final version of two modules sent late. I expect to avoid such delays in the future, but it is a risk.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
