Talon: Starship Map & Miniature
Starship miniature & poster map for Starfinder & other sci-fi RPGs. A sleek bounty hunter on one side - a grungy slaver on the other.
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Fri, February 22 2019 4:00 AM UTC +00:00.
The goal of this project is to print an original starship deckplan poster, cast a fleet of matching miniatures, and get them to you by mid-March. Links to digital documents will be provided to fully detail the ships and their interiors. Two complete versions of the ship are included - one on each side of the poster.
Lex Talionis, or "Talon" for short, is a bounty hunter customization of the Lelantos-Alpha class hunter-killer used by the military. It is stylish and high-tech, with an automated med bay and sizable cargo hold. It can be flown by a lone hunter but has beds for six. The trio of holding cells are designed to be usable as additional cabins if desired.
Omega-Zed was salvaged from a Lelantos-Omega class command and control ship. This grungy wingless deathtrap features filthy cells, kennels, and a blood-stained arena - as well as a common room and throne-like seating for the ship's master. If slavers aren't your thing, the layout could also represent raiders or a post-apocalyptic troop transport.
US Shipping is $5 for the Miniature pledge level, $7 for the poster and combo levels.
International shipping is $16 for the Miniature pledge level s and $26 for the poster or combo level ($12 and $19 for Canada). Rewards will be shipped using USPS first class mail from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The centerpiece of the campaign is a 24x36 inch, two-sided, full-color poster featuring complete deckplans for the sleek bounty hunter Lex Talionis ("Talon") on one side and the filthy Omega-Zed slaver on the back. The maps are scaled at 1 inch = 5 feet and have a 1-inch grid built into the floor. The are shipped rolled rather than folded.
The custom miniature was created as a digital model, 3D printed at the highest resolution, and made into a mold to cast a fleet of resin ships. The result is a highly detailed miniature ready to paint and play (miniatures are sold unpainted). A hexagon-shaped, 1-inch, clear acrylic flight stand is included. Note that the wings are separate pieces. They can be glued on in either the up or down position for Talon, or left off for the Omega-Zed variant. The miniature is about 1.5 inches head to tail, with a wingspan of nearly 3 inches.
Talon is from the digital Future Armada product line, issue number sixteen. Omega-Zed is from an upcoming"refit" issue of Armada Codex. Those issues are included at all pledge levels; other issues can be found at DriveThruRPG. The set of PDF documents includes room by room descriptions and suggested statistics for the ships, as well as deckplans broken into printable pages. Additional renderings are included as are giant digital images of the poster for use online or with a projector. Before the end of the campaign, Starfinder statistics for Talon & Omega-Zed will be provided for free on my Port Zero page.
If you want to add any posters or miniatures to your order, use the “Manage Pledge” button in the upper right (or mouse-over your reward) to manually increase your pledge amount. The end-of-campaign survey will let you specify what any extra money is for and I’ll bundle everything together. The available posters, ships, and prices can all be found on my Zero Hour Shop page ( http://0-hr.com/Shop ). If you pledge for the $24 combo, then additional Talon poster is $17 and additional Talon miniatures are $4. Otherwise posters are $20 and miniatures are $6. With add-ons, total shipping is $7 / $19 / $26 for the US / Canada / the rest of the world.
As a small token of my appreciation, I will create an original 3D rendering or image of these ships for every $1000 by which the goal is exceeded. These images will be included with the digital reward files exclusively for backers.
Thank you for taking the time to consider this campaign - I hope that you'll join with us to make this dream a reality!
Risks and challenges
The map images and miniatures are already in production, so the only real risk is that shipping could be delayed for some reason. I am personally handling the shipping so I can ensure that it will be my highest priority when the campaign ends. If demand exceeds my initial estimates, there could be a delay while more materials are produced, but this would not be more than a couple of weeks.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
