The goal of this project is to print an original starship poster, cast a fleet of matching miniatures, and get them to you within a few weeks of campaigns' end. Links to digital documents and supporting images will be provided to fully detail the ship and its interior.
Drake is a Seraphim-class exploration vessel originally designed as an escort frigate but repurposed for long-range reconnaissance. At 100 meters long, she carries a crew of 18 plus half a dozen small fighters and a shuttle. Originally named for the Sir Francis Drake, this ship was the pride of the Exploration Corp before hard times forced her to become a privateer and then outright pirate. During these dark years, the "Black Dragon" earned a sinister reputation. The interior maps are the same while stats and renderings for both incarnations are provided.
US Shipping is $6 for all pledge levels.
International shipping is $15 for single items and $24 for multiple items ($10 and $16 for Canada). Rewards will be shipped using USPS first class mail from Pittsburgh.
The centerpiece of the campaign is a 24x36 inch, two-sided, full-color poster featuring complete deckplans for ConFederation starship “Drake”. The maps are scaled at 1 inch = 5 feet and have a 1-inch grid built into the floor. Drake is large enough to fill both sides of the poster. It is certainly possible to play with just one poster, flipping it over when the action moves to the back of the ship. But since many people want to layout the whole starship at once, a set of two copies is available at a discounted price.
The custom miniature was created as a digital model, 3D printed at the highest resolution, and made into a mold. From that, the good folks at Trollforged Miniatures spun out the ships using their proprietary resin and professional techniques. The result is a highly detailed miniature ready to paint and play (miniatures are sold unpainted). A hexagon shaped 1-inch, clear acrylic flight stand is included.
Note that the video shows pictures of the translucent 3D printed master. The actual miniatures will be made out of an opaque, medium-grey, resin.
Drake is from the digital Future Armada product line, issue number 9. That issue is included at all pledge levels; other issues can be found at RPGNow & DriveThruRPG. The set of PDF documents includes room by room descriptions and d20 statistics for the ship, as well as the deckplans broken into printable pages. Several additional renderings are included as are huge digital images of the poster - perfect for use online or with a projector. Before the end of the campaign, Starfinder statistics for Drake and the small craft carried will be provided for free on my Port Zero page.
If you want to add any posters or miniatures to your order, use the “Manage Pledge” button in the upper right (or mouse-over your reward) to manually increase your pledge. The end-of-campaign survey will let you specify what any extra money is for and I’ll bundle everything together. The available posters, ships, and prices can all be found on my Zero Hour Shop page ( http://0-hr.com/Shop ). Additional Drake minis are $9 and posters $20 - or you can add a pair of Drake posters for $30.There is no additional shipping charge for add-ons done this way (it is $6 / $16 / $24 total for US / Canada / the rest of the world).
As a small token of my appreciation, I will create an original 3D rendering or image of these ships for every $1000 by which the goal is exceeded. These images will be included with the digital reward files exclusively for backers.
Risks and challenges
The map images and miniatures are already made, so the only real risk is that shipping could be delayed for some reason. I am personally handling the shipping so I can insure that it will be my highest priority once things are set. If demand exceeds my initial estimates, there could be a delay while more materials are produced, but this would not be more than a couple of weeks at most.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
