This year, bring 100 into the world.
What is Make 100?
Make 100 is a creative initiative focused on editions of 100. Kick off 2017 by challenging yourself to bring your brightest idea to life, x100.
How can I take part?
Getting involved in Make 100 is simple: just launch a Kickstarter project this January featuring your idea as a limited-edition reward capped at 100 backers. Then, share your live project with us: firstname.lastname@example.org
What can I make?
You could make a run of 100 zines, or release 100 tickets to a performance — as long as your project follows our rules, the possibilities are 100% endless.
Why should I take part?
Maybe you thrive under creative constraints, or maybe you’re just excited that we’ll be shouting Make 100 projects from the rooftops all month long. Either way, consider this your nudge to get creating.
Questions and Answers
Are the rules flexible? Can I have various rewards that add up to 100, total?
Make 100 aims to celebrate the many ways an edition of 100 can be brought to life, and we’re excited to see how creators will interpret the prompt. As long as your project launches before the end of January, follows Kickstarter’s general rules, and features at least one limited-edition reward capped at 100 backers — OR you have multiple capped rewards tiers that together add up to 100 — your project can be part of the Make 100 initiative.
Note: If you’re offering a Make 100-themed limited-edition reward as part of a project with multiple reward tiers, be sure to include “Make 100” in the reward tier’s title so that our team and prospective backers can readily identify it.
How can I get my Make 100 project discovered?
Once your project is live, email a link to email@example.com, and we’ll take a look at it. After we’ve confirmed that your project is in line with the Make 100 prompt (see the above FAQ for more on this), we’ll tag your project “Make 100” so that backers can easily discover it as part of the initiative. All projects tagged Make 100 are discoverable right over here.
Can I modify my existing or planned campaign to make it fit within Make 100?
While it’s possible to add a reward tier capped at 100 backers to any live Kickstarter project, Make 100 is aimed at inspiring creators to get started on something new. It’s not a one-size-fits-all initiative, so if you’ve already planned something specific, we don’t recommend modifying it just to make it part of Make 100. Do what makes the most sense for your project!
Should I set my funding goal based on getting 100 backers?
Not necessarily. While we encourage you to aim for 100 backers, you should set your funding goal based on the actual cost of making and shipping your rewards and running your project.
Section three of this worksheet will help you with the math.
If my project is a part of Make 100, will you definitely promote it?
Throughout January, our editorial team will be on the lookout for — and sharing — projects that go above and beyond in their concept, presentation, and consideration of the Make 100 prompt. We can not guarantee promotion of all projects that fit under the Make 100 umbrella — but you can get some tips on how to catch our eye in this blog post.
