The Kickstarter Blog

New Feature: Creator Navigation

In our constant quest to build the best possible experience for project creators, today we launched a redesign of how creators access their project management tools. You can see the new design here:

Previously creator tools like the Project Dashboard (which shows creators stats, referral information, and other data about their project), Backer Report (which creators use to manage their backers and rewards), and others were accessed from the top of the page. We hope this slight redesign will make the tools easier to find, and will make creators' jobs even easier. We hope you like it!

Looks good! I'd love to see some upgrades in the shipping department, too.

      Like this.

I would like to see 'my backer history' in a format similar to 'my starred projects'. Sorting by funded, failed, ongoing and by date closing would be good.

      Possible?

You strike me as a person with no shortage of ideas but I wanted to pass another one on to you. I don't know what you call the little panels that highlight a project. I will call them 'cards'. I think it would be great to pick a corner of a card, maybe the bottom right corner, and place a colored triangle in that corner to show a backers status. ie color the corner red if it is backed and green if it is been watched. Another idea would to color the border different colors for this representation.

Looks like a good change in the right direction to me. Sure, there's always a million more things that we could ask for, but complaining when the team does do something to improve the site probably isn't the wey to make things better. Personally I find the new design much clearer for people new to running a Kick starter, and that can only be a good thing.

Yes - a much more effective way Kickstarter could make things better would be to re-think their decision not to terminate the "Above The Game" project, which actively promotes sexual assault towards women.

      Dear Kickstarter,

I am attempting to reach you. My project was approved and ready to launch. It has suddenly disappeared. I am very confused and there is no way to reach you. Has my account been hacked? Or, corrupted, by chance? Please help. The preview link still works; it is located at:

      Please help! Sincerely, Izah Gallagher

      Dear Kickstarter Team,
Great new feature to your amazing website! We sometime encounter difficulty with completing a pledge for various projects. Could you please give us a helpful hint.
      Thank you,
      Judit + Corina

Successful projects don't need more tools (ie backer slicers), the loser projects do (no backers). KICKSTARTER SHOULD PREPARE BACKERS FOR FAILURE, that is 50% & those are the people who need the tools. Here is a start: have them watch "Your kickstarter video isn't going to make jack squat!" on funnyordie.com or start a Nihilist Corner Blog or something - here is their first blog - Hey kickstarter number crunchers, the numbers dictate it ends badly for all of us...
