Amanda Conner covers Operation Pajama Pants!

Update #4 · Mar 8, 2012 · comment

Just a quick update here. Thought it was a time people got a good look at one of the highlights of this project, the book's cover by AMANDA CONNER (Powergirl, Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre).

Amanda is an amazing artist and even a better person. One of my favs! I couldn't be more happy to have her part of this project.

This image, colored by our colorist Nick Filardi is not only the cover to the book, but one of the 11x17 prints available in the $55 and up rewards sets.

Enjoy!

What a difference color makes.

Update #2 · Feb 24, 2012 · 2 comments

First of all thanks to everyone who's contributed. There's still a long way to go, but it's a great start.

One of the main reasons we decided to put this hardcover edition together was the chance to see Operation Pajama Pants colored. The limited releases we've had, in regular comic book form, have been in black and white, with some very basic graytones thrown on. Our colorist, Nick Filardi (who you might know from his work on Powers) just adds so much energy to the page that it brings the artwork to a whole new level. In fact, when I got the first pages back the first thing I said was "Holy crap! This looks like a real comic book now!"

To give you an idea of what a difference it was, I decided to take a few panels and do a little side-by-side of the old and busted b/w with the new hotness colored.

With these 2 panels from issue 1, we see how the color really sends home the point that we're talking about a sun god here. In addition, you can see in the interior shot that the shadows on the wall were all Nick.

What I love about this is the depth of field Nick adds.

I don't even think I have to explain this one.

Again it's a matter of the energy the coloring brings. The fire feels like it has heat. Those colonial Americans have much to fear from that attacking robot (that totally happened).

So there's a little sample of what this little Kickstarter campaign means for Operation Pajama Pants, as unless we raise the money, thems all the color pages we're gonna see. and then I'll have kidnapped Nick and locked him in my basement for no reason.

Yes. I'm kidnapping him AND paying him. Don't question it.

Ok, this is a weird one. This is for the writers out there. For this you'll get the usual, the digital copy, the t-shirt, THE BOOK (signed), the set of prints, and the set of original comics. Plus, Ziggy will draw a full 22-page comic that you've written (say WHAT?!). That's right. You write it, Ziggy will draw it. Some content restrictions apply. Not many, but some. Send me a message for more details if you're interested in this.

    Estimated delivery: Dec 2013
