I hope this finds all of you doing very well, in the midst of November. I'm writing to you all from Johnson, Vermont, where I've just finished my first full (and I mean FULL) week as a resident artist at the Vermont Studio Center, working with the Writing Program. I'm looking forward to spending the next year in Johnson, in the midst of all of the work/life at the VSC.
Today was the first day in the studio for me, which was particularly lovely & felt long-overdue, after all the travels from Finland (with some Hurricane Sandy-related delays in New York) and diving into a brand new world of work/life on the flip side. I've just started delving in to the handmade broadsides I'm making from the series of poems I composed while at Arteles--which ended up having a working title of "Truth or Consequences." Along with this update, I've attached some pictures of my new (temporary) home in the printmaking studios at the VSC (which are heavenly), and some shots from very early on in the broadside-making process (before my hands got too busy and filthy to touch my camera).
In the next few weeks, I'll be sending surveys to those of you who are expecting broadsides (either handmade or those printed in collaboration with Edison St. Press) and other rewards, who haven't already had a survey sent along. I'll also be figuring out the best way to get the stickers and postcard-prints into the world & sent along to those of you who are looking for those.
In the meantime, I just want to send along my deepest thank yous to all of you who've joined me along the road to/from Arteles. I'm still wading through all of the work and ideas and resources I came away from Finland with, and I can't wait to share some of that work with you, over the course of the coming weeks.
All my best,
