Webbed chronicles the extraordinary online adventures of ordinary man seeking to find his place in the world without ever leaving home.
We've reached our goal! Any further donations will go towards film festival entry fees for Webbed, including the LA New Media Film Festival and the Angelus Student Film Festival. Thank You!
Webbed chronicles the extraordinary online adventures of ordinary man seeking to find his place in the world without ever leaving his apartment. Joe (a.k.a. JoeTheLegend323) seeks connection and community through a webcam, his identity hinging on hits, until a termite infestation in his building forces him out of the virtual and into reality.
Zack and his crew are students in the Media Arts and Culture Program at Occidental College, and Webbed is Zack's senior thesis film. The project is a funny and provocative exploration of the relationships we create with, and through, digital technology. The filmmakers will be entering the project into film festivals, particularly the New Media Film Festival in Los Angeles. Occidental Students pride themselves on exploring complex and entertaining ideas on economical budgets, but they still need your help to make this project a reality!
Webbed is currently in pre-production with a locked script. It will be shot in November and enter post-production in January, premiering at Occidental College in Eagle Rock, California on April 14, 2012. Internet supporters are welcome to attend the screening.
All donations towards the project will go towards renting camera lenses, makeup, set design, costuming, and permits for the right locations. Any donations received over the $1,500 goal will go towards paying for film festival entry fees for Webbed.
Since Webbed is a movie about video bloggers and the internet, there will be a series of real video blogs themed to expand the lens of the project's fictional main characters into the world of YouTube. If you donate $20 or more, you can become a part of this transmedia experience, having the video blogger give you an internet shout out in one of his or her videos. The YouTube page for this will go live prior to the film's premiere.
Thank you for visiting the Webbed Kickstarter!
