After a sold-out run at Link's Hall, a second run at Second City and a three-star review from the Chicago Tribune, Theater Un-Speak-Able's hit show Superman 2050 is branching out to Chicago's Midwest neighbors.
Two hours from Chicago to Minneapolis? Detroit? Pittsburgh? St. Louis? NO PROBLEM.
But WHY?
President Obama says we need a national plan for high speed rail in the United States, culminating in miles of new tracks, state-of-the-art bullet trains with top speeds of over 200 mph, and multiple interconnected high-speed commuter rail networks across the country by the year 2050.
We at Theater Un-Speak-Able wish to test the limits of our nation's current system of train travel in order to better understand and communicate the need for these proposed developments to happen in the United States.
A documentary filmmaker out of Los Angeles will be accompanying us on the tour, capturing the highs and lows of our superhero adventure. We hope to later produce this film and submit for use in other high-speed rail advocacy projects.
Stand Up For Trains
In Superman 2050, this high-speed vision for the U.S., particularly the Midwestern states, has come to fruition.
It's a non-stop, high-energy show for all ages where evil and villainy are thwarted by quick wit and resourcefulness. Want to see it? We want to bring it to you!
From July 20th - 25th, 2011, Theater Un-Speak-Able will embark on a journey with stops in:
Milwaukee
Chicago
Minneapolis/St. Paul
Those traveling include:
7 Actors
+1 Producer
+1 Assistant
+1 Cameraman
+1 Midwest High-Speed Rail Association representative
= 11 people!!
Traveling
with a group this size requires a lot of planning and a lot of money.
We've been planning for months, but we need your help to get us to the
finish line.
Hitting 100% funding will allow us to buy the Amtrak tickets, fly in our documentary filmmaker from LA, rent camera equipment and do a no-frills version of the tour. We'll be promoting the future of high-speed rail as we go, and sleeping on floors at our friends' houses.
Hitting 150% funding, will help us to pay the actors (paying artists for their work, YAY!), stay more comfortably in each city and launch a brand new Superman 2050 website.
Hitting 200% funding will allow us to do all that, and begin devising an all-new performance piece taking our actions to the next level!
THANK YOU!
