We believe that culture + arts + creativity is the best way to keep young people engaged and involved in social issues and that combining these activities can be a powerful agent of change in young people’s lives. Often times, young people either do not have the appropriate spaces to express themselves creatively, but they also don’t have appropriate structures that helps them link their political, academic, and social perspectives with their creative expression.

We at Young Voices Nation figured out a way to push through these obstacles that young people face today and we are declaring our mission to support young people in their creative consciousnesses by giving them a megaphone: We’re writing a book! Voices of a nation!

The book will be a vehicle to amplify the voices of young people who are engaged, to tell our ideas on artistic activism, share stories, and create the future. This book will use multiple mediums: essays, poetry, comics, and audio. Through a speaking Tour and using new Technology, arts, and social networking we plan on spreading the word and involving young people. The book will not only be written as a collaborative action, it will also be funded as a collaborative action as well. This project will only be as successful as our friends and family make it.
