Update #10: Cutting our deadline close here!
Cutting our deadline here close!
The wood carver says he's doing good with the prototype and asked what color to stain it. I told him not black, because normal Atari cartridges are black. This is a wood product, and the beauty of the wood needs to show. We're thinking a dark walnut color.
I don't know if this is allowed to say here, but I wanted to state that if the funding is not received here, feel free to follow the thread over on AtariAge website.
Update #9: Let the wood cutting begin!
Just a small update from the wood worker:
"I just purchased the wood yesterday for the case. We'll be setting up the jig tomorrow to cut the first one and make all the adjustments to the case. I'll keep you posted and up date you tomorrow after we're done working on it."
Update #8: The wood carver received his deposit and sample today.
I thought I'd mention that I was late in sending out the stuff, but finally did. The wood carver received his deposit and sample so he can buy supplies and begin work.
He thinks it will be doable, but I thought I should state that if for some reason a wood cartridge case is not doable, I'll still be doing them in standard plastic cases.
People would have the option of a full refund, or a standard cartridge for $28 and a refund of the other portion.
One way or another this will be funded!
Update #7: Intro logo..
Check out this sweet Activishawn logo. Obviously it's a play on my name and the company Activision who first got their start in Atari 2600 games. I'm still gonna fine tune it a little before adding it to the final game. I think I might add a lightning flash and sound before and after it.
Update #6: Skull Island to be shown at Classic Gaming Expo 2010
AtariAge is attending the 2010 Classic Gaming Expo July 31st and August 1st in Las Vegas! The Classic Gaming Expo (CGE) is the world's largest event catering to classic gamers, and AtariAge will have a large booth jam-packed with retro-gaming goodness! At CGE you'll find a wide variety of systems to play......
Albert was nice enough to display my game at his booth. You'll be able to try it out. He's got lots of other goodies too. If you're in the area stop by and tell them Yuppicide sent you. :)
You can see more demos that will be displayed at the booth here:

Pledge $1 or more Pledge $1 or more
Your name (or nickname) will appear in the instruction manual with a big thanks.
Pledge $28 or more Pledge $28 or more
You will receive one copy of the final release version of the game. It comes with a plastic cartridge case, labels, and manual. They will all be hand numbered. Numbers will be randomly given out. This includes shipping and tracking within the United States.

You will receive one copy of a prototype of the game. Prototypes are works in progress and not the final product. The prototypes are mostly, if not fully, playable, and may contain minor bugs or graphical glitches. They most likely include the old title screen. These were used to test the game on a real system. They come in a plastic cartridge case with a prototype label.

I always have ideas. My friend thinks I'm like Kramer from Seinfeld. He always has crazy ideas: a pizza place where you make your own pizza, a bladder system for oil tankers (you listening BP?), a cologne that smells like the beach, etc.
My ideas aren't that crazy, though. I've got a love for classic video games, music, photography, and cooking. When I finish this project I have some others up my sleeve that you might enjoy.
... and if you're wondering, yes that is me in my profile picture, yes that is a real pumpkin on my head. It was about 54 pounds. I spent awhile carving the mummy. I had to take the picture a bunch of times because I couldn't see out of the pumpkin to get in the picture.
